Should Segregation Of Fans End
Should we get rid of Segregation in football games just like they have at Rugby? It would be great to sit next to opposing fans and would give away fans the choice to sit at different parts of the opponents stadium.
Its works in Rugby, it works in the World Cup which no trouble. I think its time to get rid of segregation, even just test it out on a few games during the season to see what impact it has. I think it would cut out violence as both sets of fans would be able to chat and have a laugh during the game.
Thoughts please...

No chance in hell that would ever happen for an old firm game,I dont really fanny it either I think it may quieten the away fans as they'd be spread out around in the stadium.

i think it would work in certain situations, i think for high profile games like Derbys or Man U Liverpool where there is a hatrid amongst fans then segreagtion should stay in place. I think that people conform to what they feel is expected of them, if they put police in between fans then they wasnt a fight as they feel thats what they expect due to putting the police there in the first place.
I agree as it works in football and other sports why not football.

Er no thanks.
No segregation would only cause aggro.

This is land of fairies stuff this. Rugby and football supporters cannot be compared.

Well I think we should at least try it out? With some low key games first.

There isn't a problem, i'm just saying we should be like the Rugby fans where violence is not heard of between fans. But i've been thinking about this and It would probably be best to leave it due to the fact that the away fans would never end up signing. It was just a thought that I had!!

You don't understand football aways then.
You go and enjoy the day out with your mates and support the shirts. I hell don't want to sit next to some yokel and sit down watching my mouth as I'm surrounded by home fans.

I wasn't thinking properly when I said it. I've been to a few away days and its quality. Sitting there, singing to the home fans and winding them up. I don't even know why I made this thread now. What was I thinking of!!!

See, I can see this kind of stuff working at internationals at world cups where its a much different environment. Less tribal rivalism and a much laid back mood.

No no no. Football can't be compared to rugby. In rugby the fans go to watch the game, in football the fans go to see the team, it's a fundamental difference.
Anyway I wouldn't want it, yes it means you can chose where you sit but I love away days because you go to the pub before and meet the locals then your with your own fans and so you can sing/cheer together. Also there would be trouble if a contraversial goal was scored and things could get uneasy.
The only defence of it is that I love pre-season games where it's all standing and you can walk around the pitch/switch ends at half time and all that, but you won't be able to get that atmosphere in the prem
