All is not lost for US CittÃÂ* di Palermo as they look to earn a place in the UEFA Cup Round of 32 in their final Group H game against RC Celta de Vigo.
• Having won their opening game 2-1 at Eintracht Frankfurt, Palermo lost to Newcastle United FC and Fenerbahçe SK to slip to fourth in the section. However, a win against Celta would guarantee them at least a third place finish in the section, and possibly the runners-up spot depending on Matchday 5's other result.
• Defeat would spell disaster for Celta who drew their opener 1-1 against Eintracht, lost 1-0 at Newcastle and then won 1-0 against Fenerbahçe. They would miss out on a qualification place if they lose, but a draw would be enough to progress.
• The side finishing top of the section is guaranteed a tie against one of the third-placed finishers from another group in the draw for the Round of 32 on 15 December, while each pool runner-up will meet one of the third-placed finishers from the UEFA Champions League.
• The two sides have never met in European competition.
• Celta's Argentinian defender MatÃÂ*as Lequi has some experience of Italian opposition having spent a season and a half in Serie A at S.S. Lazio prior to joining Celta, initially on loan, last season.
• Palermo have come up against Spanish opposition on one previous occasion in UEFA competition, drawing a UEFA Cup game 1-1 against RCD Espanyol in Barcelona last season.
• Celta have played four games against Italian opposition in the course of one two-legged European tie and two UEFA Champions League group stage games.
• They won 4-1 on aggregate against Juventus in a 1999/00 UEFA Cup fourth-round tie and then earned a 0-0 home draw and a 2-1 win at AC Milan in the 2003/04 UEFA Champions League.
• In total, they have won twice, drawn once and lost once against Italian opposition.
• In Italy, they have won one game and lost one.
• Fenerbahçe play Eintracht in Matchday 5's other Group H game.
