View Full Version : Racism in Football
After the appauling events of the U21 match the other day, how are we going to stop it?
Throwing Serbia out may appear to be the thing to do but then your also punishing the innocent majority. That said if a Serbian player is found to have been guilty then imo they should be chucked out. If it's just the fans you'd start getting imposter fans though.
If England had walked off then they may have had to forfeit the game but it would have put pressure on UEFA to act as otherwise racism would have appeared to win.
Fines don't achieve anything...What is the answer?

I dont really know how you stiop it really as theres the argument like you say wherby a fine is punishing all the palyers not just the one. I think Nedum has been really mature about the whole situation and has dealt with it in a way that the FA may take note, he didnt walk of or anything. He was on an interview where he was saying if he knew how to stop racism hed be on the UEFA board and that he'd focus on doing even better in the chmpionships because of it. Its still not on though, its really out of order. But you cant stop it in day to day life so its not going to be easier on the football field.
It's a social aspect. Society doesn't change that quickly and it will be a slow process in some countries.

It has changed a lot in the uk compared to what it used to be like I remember chanting like "you black bastard" and "your just a town full of paki's" the latter which was aimed at Middlesbrough.
We have moved on a lot in the last 10-15 years and its good to see. Which now just need other countries to do the same. Its horrible to see it happening and the thugs need to be brought to justice.
I know the UK has changed.
Not every country is in a similar situation and fines won't change it.
It's about keeping it away from football though in this case. If the player is found guilty of racism and Serbia are kicked out of the tournament that will have a huge effect on other players' behaviour. Very hard to punish the fans though as you'll get imposter fans and I think some of the people doing it wouldn't care about their team.
What the hell are imposter fans ?
The punishment of the governing body should be of course harsh and I believe they should ban Serbia for there actions.
The deeper issue is that racism in that country and ergo in football will remain just like in Spain until the society changes.
Imposter fans where you turn up to your rivals ground and shout racist chants to get them points deducted.
If Serbia were to be chucked out it would have a huge impact on the fans being racist and the players, also the fans who just do it because everyone else is doing it would think twice.
Never heard of stuff like that. Well outside of Dream Team at least.
