Censors ban 'brutal' video game
A violent video game blamed for the death of a teenager is banned by British censors.
BBC NEWS | England | Leicestershire | Censors ban 'brutal' video game
===============
Surely if its an 18+ game then we have the choice to buy it or not. What was a 14yr old doing playing on it? Maybe the parents should be looked upon or if it wasn't the parents then the people who were looking after the lad.

Don't have a problem with that. Yes I think are civil liberties generally are being infringed but if you make a game 18+ then it doesn't mean U18's aren't going to buy it. Parents will buy it for them thinking it's just a game or they can get strangers to buy it - it's not like alcohol!
I don't see why we need to have these games when they probably are responsible for brutal murders in real life.
I posted a thread in the debates forum that no-one answered about why sex isn't allowed on tv but violence is - I don't understand it. One is an act of love and unity the other is an act of violence, hate and intolerance.

As long as it comes out in America, I couldn't care less. I have my PSP so I can play downloaded games from any region. And I've been waiting for this game for ages now.
Still though, I hate how they ban 18+ games after younger people play it. It's not the games fault for being brutal, it's the ****ing parents fault for not being careful, checking up what they buy. After they see their children playing it they have the cheek to go and complain.

As B_B said, 18+ you have the choice to buy it. If someone younger gets it then so be it, there is no real link to violence in games to murder.
Which brings me onto this...

Erm no proof of that at all. Maybe we should ban everything violent in case it hurts our precious eyes?

It's restricted more than violence is.
As for links with murder, there's no proof and I'm not an expert - I'm going by what it says in the article

Well ban all brutal violent films like lock stock / saving private Ryan, and any others. As people might go around shooting people because of what they have seen on the TV.
We should be able to buy this game if we want to, its just plain stupid they have banned it. I wouldn't buy it anyway as I don't really play computer games. Oh maybe Doom and Street fighter should be banned as that is violence, with the aim of the game to kill people / things.
Pathetic really.

I'm not saying ban all games but unfortunately there is proof that 'extreme' games do encourage shooting. I haven't played the game - maybe it is lame in which case it shouldn't be banned but I doubt, I'm sure they haven't taken the decision lightly.
Sadly these days people become obssessed with computer games and it's hard to tell them it's wrong if your saying it's fine to do it in the game. People see incidents in films/games and don't always see the consequences, therefore think doing the same thing in real life will have the same consequences.

Well them people should be found and locked up in a mental health prison. As they are not fit to be in society. I just think its stupid that they ban it.
