TURKISH superstar Tuncay Sanli has been at Rockliffe Park this morning to undergo a medical.
The 25-year-old Turkey international, who is a free agent, is set to join Boro on a free transfer from Turkish champions Fenerbache.
And the club today confirmed that the striker had flown into Teesside.
Tuncay could be Southgate's second signing of the week following the £2m transfer of Jeremie Aliadiere from Arsenal.
Good too see him on Teesside, hopefully he will pass the medical and pass it tomorrow with a nice signature.
Aye he said he hopes to sign tomorrow. Here is what he said today.
With the medical due to be concluded on Friday, Tuncay is hoping to put the finishing touches to his move to the Riverside.
"I'm a little tired," Tuncay told Sky Sports News. "It's (the medical) ongoing tomorrow.
"I will talk details with the club and hopefully we will sign a contract with Middlesbrough tomorrow."
Tuncay admits he is savouring the opportunity to play in the Premier League with Gareth Southgate's side next season.
He added: "The English league is a great league and the best football is played here. I'm very happy to be here now.
"Of course I like to score goals, but I have always been a team player, so my style depends on the tactics of the coach.
"I will try to do my best. I want to make a massive impact in the Premier League ahead of the new season."
The 25-year-old also spoke to his fellow Turks - Newcastle's Emre and Blackburn's Tugay - about a move to England.
"They are all my close friends and I have talked with them frequently about the Premier League," he continued.
"In the beginning of my career my aim was the Premier League and Middlesbrough are one of the influential teams in this league."
Can't wait for it all to be wrapped up. I think this player has got every Boro supporter mega excited for the coming season.
