Mark Schwarzer refused to commit his long-term future to Middlesbrough amid fears he could follow fellow Aussie Mark Viduka out of The Riverside.

Schwarzer, 34, in Singapore preparing for the Asian Cup finals, has been linked with Bayern Munich.

And he has admitted he was concerned by Viduka's departure to Premiership rivals Newcastle on a free transfer.

Schwarzer said: " I've got another year left on my contract. We will just have to wait and see, I'm not really sure."

He added: "Obviously there has been a lot of speculation in the media about certain clubs being interested, but at this moment in time I don't really want to comment."

Schwarzer told the Australian media last week: "It's concerning, very concerning. Mark was one of the main reasons why we stayed up."

Wouldn't be the first time he's wanted to go. I'm not sure about him going or not, he's did good for us but he can't have long left now before he retires? I mean he's 34....

You can't really say anything bad about Schwarzer, he's been probably the best ever keeper for Middlesbrough. Pears was a good keeper also!! But I didn't really watch Pears play. But definately Schwarzer has played the best years of his career with Middlesbrough.

If he did go then we have to applaud him for the magnificent service he has given to the club. Fair enough he's only doing a job but he's made some fantastic saves in his career.

Would be sad to see him go, VERY SAD!!!

He's been with us for so long, it wouldn't look right with no Schwarzer in the goal!!!

Would be sad to see him go, but its about the future, hes 34 and will leave on a free in about a year if he doesnt sign a contract.. id take money now if it was offered.. and get a young decent keeper into replace him..

Oh yeah, without a doubt, we can't keep hold of him for ever. But when we do get rid of him, he will be missed. Hopefully we can keep him for 1 final year.
