If they didn't get relegated and were forced to sell all their players. Stick the players they sold now with a few of todays regulars and they have a brilliant squad that would be capable of being in the top 4.

David James
Rio ferdinand
Anton ferdinand
Lucas Neill
Tomas repka
Michael Carrick
Joe Cole
Frank Lampard
Youssi Benayoun
Carlos tevez
Jermain Defoe

What do you think?

No. They'd probably finish third at best, but it's way too hyphothetical I mean they wouldn't be playing against Liverpool's all time best XI they'd be playing against todays teams. Also it's not like Championship Manager you can't just get loads of good players, put them in a team an expect them to gel, bearing in half of the squad didn't play together.

nah i mean if they had stuck together - bring in the odd player they have now i.e Tevez; all at the quality they are now. I know you cant just estimate where they would finish but yes i think they'd be a hard team to beat.

That is a very good XI.

Assuming the players developed as they have (and the players are still at the other clubs as well so Rio still at United) I think that team would be pushing the top 4. Bit light up front really.

No, but Di Canio replace Defoe, yes they can top 4!

Only half their squad would / have got into the top four now though. I mean James on current form maybe, but look at Repka, A. Ferdinand, Benayoun, Neil...

I wouldnt say Everton had any players that would of gone to the top 4 except maybe Cahill. Those 4 are still good players - look at the talent around them i.e Frank Lampard and tevez. Maybe Kanoute up front to partner him instead of Defoe.

Yeah but that was a one off. The top four are too strong at the moment, if you look at Spurs - they had a great season and still couldn't get in...

Agreed about Di Canio he was magical, also they couldn't get in the top with David James nop diagreed :). The 2 ferdinands wouldn't player well together.

He should be back in the england squad. Shame he had that horrendous nightmare of a game against denmark :)

Benayoun and Repka are there because i cant think of any other people btw.
