Just had an update with the facts and figures -
todate there have been sold
PS3 - 5.5 Million
Xbox 360 - 12 Million
Looks like the 360 is doing well but consider how long they have been out
PS3 - November 11 2006 - 9 Months
Xbox 360 - November 15 2005 - 21 Months
so that means monthly sale average of
PS3 - 611,111
Xbox 360 - 571,428
at the moment with sales price cuts last week on the PS3 the sales have increased by 50% in the US and Japan and cuts are due through out the world in the next few month. The 360 sales have been slowing over the past few months with no sign of increase even with game releases.
Now look at how many are in use with there being a high rate of faulty 360's
PS3 - Fault Rate 1% - 5.35 Million in Use
Xbox 360 - Fault Rate 33% - 8 Million in Use
From these figures, i think we can see that by the end of 2007 there will be more PS3 in use but not sold, that could take another year, but we do have christmas, and it will be the first for the PS3 with another price cut expected before Christmas,
We will Just have to wait and see
