View Full Version : Liverpool On Spending Spree?, Now Benayoun and Babel going to Anfield

Liverpool really seem to be splashing the cash, and Fernando Torres is far from their only major signing of the Summer. Yossi Benayoun's move has been finalised, and Babel is set to be confirmed as a Liverpool player tomorrow, which I'm a little disappointed about, for £11.5 million, while Voronin and Torres have strengthened the striking department.

It's good to see that they have some financial backing, although they've never really been short of it in the past. Could they launch a challenge on the top 2, or even the title?

Although I don't really think Benayoun's consistent enough for Liverpool. Still, he may prove me wrong. They will probably finish 3rd.

These new signings will make for a good title race but to be honest I dont think this season - they still have to gel together and rafa will no doubt keep his rotation plan which will unsettle them. I wonder where Crouch goes from here, he's good enough to be their regular.

Yeah too right, crouch is always scoring goals!! So he should really start from the beginning to be honest!!

Cant see them breaking the UTD /Chelsea grip on the title.

To be honest they have had to spend that money to keep at the position they are within the league. Chelsea and United are still a level ahead of them, however they have made sure 3rd place is theirs.

They've also made a decent amount on their sales also. So spending figures aren't as high as they may seem. It will really depend on the kind of start that they can get off to this year. After the first 9 games, they already seem to be out of it. If they get off well then possibly, but i dont see it happening.

I don't think they will get near the title, I think they have spent for the sake of buying, if they didn't get the new owners they would've kept the same team

Prediction is the same as last year, just as they would've if they hadn't have got the players

agreed if you were going by goals and form you' pick crouch to play alongside torres but rafa likes kuyt as he's more mobile for a start.

Voronin could turn out to be pleasant surprise

I agree with you there....maybe it's early banter before Everton get crushed by Liverpool.
