Child Protection Petition (http://www.petitiononline.com/June2007/)
Sign it if you want, but personally anyone who thinks having their child taken from is not punishment enough for the parents is deluded.
I'm not encouraging anyone to sign this petition

Are you human???????
Yes I am human, they are to blame simple as. Why should they be let off, what about maddie if she's still alive. You can't just let them off.
Imagine I was driving my car and I was speeding, and I ran into a kid and killed him/her. What your saying is I shouldn't be charged with manslaughter/dangerous driving, just because they are dead.
OR
If I have my kid (i don't have one) in the front seat of my car, with no seatbelt on I crash and the kid flies forward and smashes through the window. Nah don't arrest me, ive killed my kid.

Bit of a difference though in leaving a kid a couple of hundred yards away and crashing a car with a kid in the front seat not wearing a seatbelt isn't their?

Nope, they both require the parents to take responsible care/protection of the child.
The parents duty for the car is to put the car in a child seat in the rear seat with seatbelt on.
The parents responsibility when on holiday is to stay with the kids all the time, watching their every move.

According to what rules? Rightly or wrongly thousands if not millions of parents worldwide would have done the same in one of the safest resorts in the world.
Are they not allowed to leave them in creches? Do they have to sleep in the same room as them?

Creshes are Supervised buy people. Leaving your kids in alone in bed is not.
They checked on her every half hour and they were only 100 yards away, maybe not great parenting but it's not nearly as irresponsible as people who don't make their kids wear seatbelts. Also in this country that is explicitly against the rules, eating outside when your kids are sleeping isn't

i signed it, i think its wrong to go away even just over the road and sit and watch, what would happen if one of them got out of bed banged head on wall and KO'd them selves who would know, child could die, its not what a responcible person would do

It's still totally irresponsible. Leaving a 3 year old and two 2 year olds in a room, especially in a foreign country, whilst your not there is ridiculous. I would never leave my son on his own. Even if I need to go upstairs for five minutes, I make him come up with me. You should never take your eyes off your children, especially for half an hour at a time.

What nonsense. Failure to use the seatbelt is against the law. Checking up on them every 20 minutes isn't. What a bloody stupid comparison.

No, I wouldn't sign it. It's just sick pranksters trying to get a sick jolly out of someone elses suffering. And anyone who signs it is doing the same.

Agree. I guess it's easy to be holier than thou and press a few buttons on a computer without actually thinking of the emotions of the people involved.
I can't believe the views on this. If the parents were not so ridiculously irresponsible to leave 3 children 3 and under, alone for 45 minutes in a foreign country, then this would not have happened. How could you not see this.
Westboy, you don't have kids but, if you did, I'm 100% certain your view on this would be dramatically different. That I am certain.

If we are going to start actions against parents who aren't checking on their kids every 30 minutes then we would have every parent bang to rights. And you mention 'foreign contry' for effect. Portugal is one of the safest child friendly nations on the planet. Unlike here.

That is no reason to leave 3 kids by themselves in a hotel that's an unusual place to them in a different country. If it was in the UK then social services would of been onto it straight away and took away the other 2 kids.

Both are a failure in making sure the child is safe at all times!!
Not wearing a seatbelt may be against the law,but you are dressing it up by saying not checking on them every 20 mins isnt. Now if you said abandoning the kids to go off and persue their own enjoyment instead-that puts a different view on it,which also happens to be what they did!!
personally i think they have failes miserably in the parent duties department, and yes they are unfit parents.

You can't be there all the time. There is no parent who can be present for every minute of their child's existance. The McCann's were on holiday so theywere entitled to enjoy themselves in what was always a safe environment. They fell victim to a VERY RARE crime. So there is no need for a petition like this that is smug and gloat like in nature.

Dont agree with the petition, but as for being there all the time, there is a difference between nipping out the back garden to hang out washing, and fookin off out for a meal id say!!

A mistake which they agonise over every day no doubt. But there are shite parents all over this nation who don't fall victim to a 3 million to one shot. And then play judge over good parents like the McCanns. There are no perfect parents. Including those who pass comment on here.

Got to agree! There are some bad people who have kids that dont deserve them. Also the perfect parent doesnt exist.
But the mccanns cant be defended in any way for what they did.
The fact is the vast majority of half decent parents wouldnt have done what they did.
A 3million to one shot, resulted in the wee girl being taken..
Id never gamble my kids safety on odds like that.
Maybe these incidents in portugal would be more frequent if more parents behaved in the way thay did.

exactally but reading through this everyone has points and most are valid ,Think this will be a crime that will never be solved now i hope not but it looks very much like one of the worlds cruel mystery's

Too right, my mate hates this man who lives in his estate, he and his wife went to Asda for 40 minutes and left the kids under 5 to roam the street. My mate rang social services up and they come round and took the kids away from him. I don't know if he's got them back yet, but this is not the first time they have left their kids alone, thats how serious this is, he rang them up and within 10 minutes the kids were taken into care.

Petition Online is the worst service to use. Polls there are always hijacked and the comments can not be deleted.
Anyway, I have been sure all along that there is something missing from this investigation and it is something suspicious.
I will sign it.

Maddie's parents should definitely have their children taken from them. Who in the right mind leaves their child alone in a foreign country?
Anyways, I thought controversial threads like this - especially relating to Madeleine - were closed because there was too many arguments etc?

I've signed it. Has anyone given any thought into why there has been so much publicity about this particular little girl?
I find it a bit weird that there have been many children who have gone missing but not had the same reaction from the public. Why is this?
Simonutd
24-07-2007, 11:28
because it happened in another country and the parents are doctors and the goverment look after them, except the ones that try to blow us up
Suge1314
24-07-2007, 12:01
I just don't think this is right. Every missing child should be treated the same way in my opinion.
Suge the petitions nothing to do with how much publicity the girl has got....
