Last night. A few Brentford fans went to the game at Basingstoke but just talking amongst themselves, whilst a group of about 20 stoke fans were singing their hearts out on the terrace. Me and a couple of mates went over there, stood right next to them and started chanting - a few more brentford fans started singing and we ended up having some great banter - all good natured, (even though there were some Leyton Orient fans there) although we were outsung.

It's the way football should be, banter on the pitch then all go down the pub and start drinking together!

A lot of non-league I've heard are quite welcoming as I've heard from FC.

I think it's 2 reasons.

1) They are mainly (apart from derbies) open stadiums with no segregation, which encourages fans to get along more.

2) There isn't the same media coverage and therefore not as much negative coverage for fans to use as an excuse for violence etc.

yea never had any problems with them I don't think.
nice enough supporters.

I'm waiting to see the Lewes fans again as they're some of the nicest I've come across.

I think the fundamental reason as to why non-league clubs tend to have less trouble making fans is because we can't afford to make bad names of our clubs. finances are short enough as it is without putting off people from visiting the ground and gaining bad publicity. if you do that at a club in a higher league they aren't going to notice the loss of income so much as there'll always be people interested going to matches and buying the merchandise. so basically. we fuck around = not as much profit. As most are well aware, every penny counts this end of the league structure.

Of course there's also the reason that fans aren't as serious. lets face it, this far down, you may as well have a laugh as taking it completely seriously would probably drive you insane and into deep depression.

The fans who cause trouble in EPL clubs probably don't do it because they no that their club can 'afford' to get a bad name though.
