This weekend (Sat 21st - Sun 22nd July) will see Leeds United fans come together in a show of solidarity in the club's darkest hour.
Hundreds of fans are expected to descend on Elland Road to lay flowers, scarves, shirts and messages at the feet of the famous Billy Bremner Statue as a statement of intent, to let the football world know that despite the actions of those who have led the club to the brink of extinction, the fans will ensure that Leeds United will not go quietly into the night, Leeds United will not just wither and die under a torrent of apathy and neglect, Leeds United will live on, and rise once again to the top of the footballing tower where it so rightly belongs.
The above photo is just the start, showing the memorials left by the early few on Friday night. Expect much much more come Sunday night.
The media have been alerted, the world and all relevant authorities WILL sit up and take notice, the correct action WILL be taken, justice WILL prevail. Stole from Gizmos site :):thumbup1::gaydance:

Yea but it doesn't mean anybody's going to take any notice. If they go, then they go, whether the fans do that or not.

It would be funny for me as my uncle supports them and he used to always take the piss out of Middlesbrough when Leeds where a top club!! How the times have changed.
If anyone deserves it its them.

It's taking it a bit far laying flowers and stuff I think. Laying flowers in that way is meant to be a symbol of sympathy or sadness for the death of a person. Doing it for a club is kind of belittling the real reason for laying flowers.

er pardon my ignorance :icon_redface: but who is/was Billy Bremner??
The following story from BBC News 24 is currently being e-mailed en mass to the Football League in order to raise awareness of just how much the survival of our club means to people:
Fans of beleaguered Leeds United have been protesting at Elland Road on Saturday about the League One club's troubled status.
Flowers, scarves and shirts were placed around the statue of Leeds legend, former captain Billy Bremner.
The side's players have not been paid for six weeks and the club still needs their golden share to play in League One next season.
The team are in the Czech Republic for a pre-season match at the weekend.
BBC NEWS | England | West Yorkshire | Leeds fans lay flowers at statue (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/west_yorkshire/6910104.stm)
We are urging everyone to follow the above link to the story on the BBC News site, and use the "E-mail to Friend" feature to send the story round to everyone they know, friends, relatives, work colleagues, as well as the Football League themselves.
The story is currently the 2nd most e-mailed story on the BBC website, we want to get it as high as possible in both e-mails and views.
The higher up we are, the more exposure the story gets, and the greater the pressure put on the Football League to give us the Golden Share we need to play in League One next season.
The Football League's e-mail address is fl@football-league.co.uk.

RedRabbit: Billy Bremner was a Leeds player in the sixties I think, don't know much about him except he's probably their greatest player ever.

Our club IS dying. If the Football League don't transfer the Golden Share to the new Leeds United to let us play football, and Bates still refuses to acknowledge the old Leeds United that is still in administration, then there will be no alternative but liquidation and extinction.
This protest goes way beyond any sort of Bates out protest, this is purely and simply a way of trying to make sure we have a club come August 11th. Everything else is a secondary concern right now.
Here's a video showcasing the progression of the demonstration.

Watch it, rate it, comment it, send it, get it out there to show how important our survival is. This isn't limited to just Leeds fans (check out the Newcastle shirt in the vid).

Fair play to ya, am sure you'll get a bit of abuse from the neanderthals but the majority will appreciate the support.
You're still f**king scum though :001_tongue:

Aye, it's getting to the stage where you might not have a Leeds United to laugh at!
The countdown at the top of the forum may as well be a countdown until the time our life-support machine is switched off, if the FL don't allow the "new" Leeds into League One and Bates still refuses to fund/acknowledge the "old" Leeds (the one with the player registrations and the one playing the friendlies atm) then we're well and truly f**ked.

its a stupid situation, where no one thinks of the important people , the fans, and hold there place and dont give in, if it all falls apart, you can come and support man united with me , with have some leeds fans for you

and he was Scottish
Never thought I'd see the day when a united fan is sympathising with a leeds fan. Would you fuck see it the other way round.

I honestly don't know.

Well you'll have to wait until Scum experience a proper crisis to find out won't you.

Yes because United have had an uneventful history.
Saying that, a lot of teams helped United out after Munich so you never know.
It's hard to feel sympathy for a team which has such ingrained hatred for your own.

Aye it is, which doesn't seem to leave us with a lot of allies. Even Burnley fans are hoping we go bust, f**k knows what we've ever had to do with them besides Eddie Gray's 2 wonder goals against them in the 70s.

Don't think you necessarily overpaid, just that the other clubs like Spurs and Boro took the piss.

I think there would be an FC United style comeback.
It would be great and a good few thousand would go to watch.
The price of Leeds matches has put off many supporters and this wouldn't be so much of a problem with another Leeds team.
That's my take on things anyway....
Fair play to the Leeds fans, love 'em or hate 'em, you've still got to respect the fact they love their club. Just because quite a few are hooligans/tossers doesn't mean all are. I was happy when they got relegated, but I don't think anyone can be happy when a club goes out of existance.
If anyone's still unsure as to exactly what this protest is about, the following article from the BBC sums it up perfectly IMO:
Leeds United fans, exasperated by the continuing decline of their club, have come up with a novel way of showing their support - laying flowers at the feet of the statue of club legend Billy Bremner to bring attention to their plight.
The gathering pile of shirts, flowers and messages around the statue of Billy Bremner at Elland Road can be best summed up by the slogan scrawled on the shirt adorning the iconic player: 'Let us play'. The fans at the ground at lunchtime on Monday 23 July 2007 were adamant that the initiative was not specifically 'anti-Bates' (referring to the controversial owner of the club) but was most definitely 'pro-Leeds'.
This standpoint was further enhanced by the unveiling of a banner of shirts bearing the motto 'Save Our Club', an idea conceived by contributors to the 'We Are Champions, Champions Of Europe' (WACCOE) supporters website.
Chairman of the Leeds United Supporters Trust, Rick Duniec, said that the growing collection of blue, yellow and white blooms decorating the base of the statue should be seen as 'Flower Power', a positive reminder that it is forty years since the Summer of Love and the glory days of Leeds under Don Revie. He added that the movement was a grass-roots initiative and it was calling for everyone involved to do what they can in order to save the troubled club. One young fan, eighteen-year-old John McDonald, described the Bremner idea as 'a cry for help'.
Indeed, for young fans who started supporting the team in the nineties, today's situation is markedly different to that which they remember from their early years. One 21 year old fan whose first Leeds memory was them winning the title in 1992, lamented his sense of powerlessness about the club's current plight.
A black and white Newcastle shirt provides sharp contrast to the Leeds United regalia beneath the statue. The message daubed upon it says 'We are all United', and signifies the impact Leeds' predicament is having across the wider football community. However, the fans congregating at Elland Road were trying their hardest to remain optimistic.
Their priority is confirmation that the Football League season will start for them on 11 August 2007, when United are due to play Tranmere Rovers at Prenton Park. Season ticket holder Mick Moule, 55, is worried that many fans will turn their backs on the club, but insists that 'the ups and downs will balance themselves out eventually'.
Father and son, Dave and James Eadie have been supporting Leeds for thirty and three years respectively. Dave acknowledged the troubles in the boardroom are a clear and present danger, but that they must be addressed once the team's survival is ensured. James, 10, said that 'itβs the fans who make the club', which is why he is confident that Leeds will see good times once more β his dad even believes that James experiencing the club's darkest days will mean the taste of success, when it returns, will be even sweeter.
The 'Ken Bates factor' is not, of course, absent from this outpouring of sentiment. Few fans will fail to concede that it is an issue which must be resolved. Bates is mentioned on several of the messages placed beneath the statue of Bremner, but it is interesting that it is nowhere near the over-riding message. A life-long fan and contributor to the WACCOE website said that the club came first, and the fans issues with Bates β for now β had to come second. He emphasised the notion that the initiative was a 'positive' one, put in place to raise the profile of the fans hopes and concerns.

That pics quality but I would feel like so much shit had I bin a Leeds fan man. I wouldnt make fun of em caus if it were my club I dunno how Id live man. Leeds were such a prominent club a while ago but their management have taken them to the point of extinction and that so is not fair for their fans and players or even their manager. I remember a quote he said (Dennis Wise) ''They've cut off our arms, legs now they're trying to cut off our b****'' :roflmao:. But never give up Leeds fans. As they say justice will ALWAYS be served and you have my backing this season(which is always a good thing) :)
