Can member keep "on-topic" when conversing in threads. Yes you can have a laugh in the threads but please do not completely change the topic of the thread. The thread about the style change is now way off topic and if people wanted to know what we have changed then they would end up scrolling through about 4 or 5 pages of general chit chat. We have a forum for general chit chat, Called The Longest Thread in MFF History (http://www.myfootballforum.com/pub-9/longest-thread-mff-history-52-new-post.html) which is for all off-topic discussion.

If people continue to takes threads away from the main topic, we will delete the posts and give out warnings.

Thanks

Well said Boro. Someone posts a thread about something, and then you get a load of responses just talking drivil and nothing to do with the subject.

Mind you the main culprit has fucked off for two weeks so things might improve anyway.

Haha, naming no names are we!!

Yeah he's gone away but there are more than one main culprit. I'm going to close this thread in a few days as its got the "potential" to get out of hand with people blaming other people.

But that could be cathartic. And fun at the same time.

Stupid, I tell you. Threads naturally go off topic like conversation. It's difficult to say don't go off topic cos all it takes is one comment from someone and then someone responding to it to change the topic, which is just natural.

BB, stop being so strict, you wuss :nodyes:

boro_boy

Yeah but usually after a few more posts its back on topic. Thats what has not been happening. The off-topicness has been going on for 4 - 5 pages!!

So?.....

Arghh I hate stubborn women!!! :animatedfear:

If you started a thread about Hartlepool winning the league, and after say 5 posts, someone mentioned Manchester United winning the premier league and thats all the ext 4 pages were about. I think you'd be a bit annoyed!!

The problem is so much mindless drivel. I know one site where it's unbelievable.

No the Longest Thread is the thread for all general chit chat.

Of course I wouldn't. I start threads that get changed all the time. If 5 people post something that's related and then it's changed then it means that the topic I started with needs no more comments on it, and if something related (by someone commenting on a comment or something related, like another team winning something for example) crops up and changes the original topic then fair dos.

It happens to me all the time because there's not many little-leaguers on this forum.

Well its just for people who click on the the thread about Middlesbrough signing Tuncay. They expect to be reading about Tuncay, but if the subject changed to Viduka and why Middlesbrough should have kept him and then changing to discussing Newcastles Coming season. They would probably not sign up and comment on it.

That's funny cos I signed up to the forum, and everyone else did and it hasn't changed in yonks so why wouldn't people sign up now?

Kolo it has to be said, you do talk utter bollocks sometimes.

Good decision to be abit more firm on the off-topic stuff, although I'm normally in it, it sometimes pisses me off aswell.

It's natural in discussion for things to go off on a tangent and take different directions. I'd rather one 4 page thread than 5 threads with 2 replies.

Why. If someone puts a thread up about say, "Rooney", why should people start chatting about say, Posh Spice.

Just start another thread.

How is that a natural progression?

Go and get banned you braindead moron.

Exactly. For example...

Hartlepool new signing from Sunderland >> Sunderland's new signing >> How well they'll do in the premiership >> Who'll win the prem

It's much better for as long as it's a natural change and not like:

Hartlepool new signing from Sunderland >> Who'll win the prem.

Better to have fewer threads that seem much more full, entertaining, varied and interesting, than loads of threads that have a couple of half-arsed replies.

The main reason this was brought up was because of the threads which LSoE started and then people just insulting him and changing the subjects of the thread with "no natural" deviation.

Obviously if its a natural deviation away from the topic and it doesn't drift away too much then we will leave them threads alone. Its just the blatant ones that we will be deleting posts and warning people.

Yeah like the style changes thread - you would have to look through 4 pages to find out what actually changed. I dont mind ones like Hartlepool >> Sunderland>>>who will win the prem etc but yeah it's the ones that are completely off-topic like the style changes thread that annoy me abit.

lol, i thinkits so funny, when you have to read though pages to find out what a thread is about, i have the time so i dont mind, but i can understand when we get new members and they look, they might be put off,

Yeah those are the types of off-topic threads we are aiming to stop.

Perhaps because he's so stuck up his own backside that some of his threads might as well just say:
ME ME ME!! on them?

There's a reason he gets banned from so many forums. :)

I have got the bottle, I just don't want to name any names. Its not about pointing out people who are doing it, its just a general message to let people know about what we will do if it continues.
