Middlesbrough have suffered a huge blow with the news that Emanuel Pogatetz may require knee surgery.

Pogatetz picked up the injury during pre-season tour of Austria. Originally thought to be minor, scans and consultation with a specialist now point to something more serious. It now look like he may need surgery

This now adds to the injury list that includes Woodgate, Huth (both may not be available for the start of the season) and Matthew Bates (serious knee injury).
