A tough one against a side well into their season. Rangers will probably end up playing Red Star Belgrade which will be tough aswell.

We have many disadvantages ahead of this.

A few of them are...
Spartak are well into their season and they are on top form.

We may not be able to travel over there due to short notice as Visas take at least two weeks for us to get them posted.

Spartak are used to their artificial surface.

It may only be local Celtic supporters able to support us over there.

Keep The Faith, we can beat them....

An away goal is always nice. But a full house at your place stacks the thing in your favour too!so its equal.I would think your fans can make enough noise to intimidate them.Glasgow, either team create amazing atmosphere on euro nights.

As far as I could see you were just stating the facts. Spartak are well into their season and play on a plastic pitch. I remember big Eck moaning like fuck when Rangers played on Dunfermlines plastic.

At Celtic Park, we should beat them like we usually do with most European teams. Still, things are stacked in the favour of Spartak overall.

I remember they watered it down and we still won 4-1 at East End Park.

I agree there if they are to keep the same format. The top placed Scottish team next year will not have to qualify. It should only contain the top team from each country also and the second place should be entered into the UEFA Cup.

Spartak should have this game. Celtic are horrible on the road plus it being on artifical turf and in Russia. You'd be lucky with a draw. Moneys on the Russians with them leading the league right now.

I disagree. The ECWC and UEFA cups couldn't both go on alongside the CL. The quality was diluted. Sponsors and thoses who put the cash in want quality comps.

Fair enough but in my opinion the quality is diluted due to there being too many teams in the Uefa cup.

I'm a firm believer in "IF IT AINT BROKE, DON'T FIX IT".

And I believe that the current format of European football is close to breaking point.

My cousin cheers for Celtic even though he prefers Rangers over any other team for the sake of his country.

Celtic comes before Scottish Football for me always though and I do not want Rangers to go through.

My reasons for this are...

- I don't like Rangers and I don't like people boasting, especially Rangers supporters looking down on my club.

- I don't want Celtic to have to share money with Rangers because of both teams qualifying. I want my team to get all of the money before any other. It was the same when Hearts had a qualifier last year I must add.

I am not bitter, I just want the best for my own team that I favour before any other.

I agree with all those points. I only want them to do Scotland proud to try and build up the nation as a footballing one. Too much plaudits go to the premiership for me. Scotland isn't an easy country to come and play in as a few players who have done well in the premiership and other leagues have found out. Paul Le Guen was(is) a good manager but was total dross in Scotland.

Its about time people started giving us credit where it is due.

The atmosphere and noise at both Celtic and Rangers' home matches has left top pros overwhelmed. I know Celtic supporters have surprised with their support on away European matches aswell.

English commentators also.

It's such a shame that this atmosphere has died away from home league matches when not involving both teams.

Stressful game for the hoops fans. Naka and JvOH should have had it finished in the second half. Spartak showed a lot of quality. But yet again Artur showed why we must hold on to him. Should be interesting to see the draw tomorrow. I'm not sure what pots Celtic and Rangers are in though.

Best Celtic match I've ever had the pleasure of attending.

Once it got to penalties, I thought I knew we weren't through as we are embarrassing when it comes to penalty shoot-outs.

The atmosphere at the match was top notch.

I didn't even see Boruc's save properly, I couldn't look. :roflmao:

I lost my wallet with £40 in if it's any consolation to the bitter and hurting ones. Was going mental at the end and was hugging the two guys next to me.

What a match it must have been for a neutral to watch, although it was frightening for myself and many others around me.

Great day all around and I was even talking to a top guy who was a Spartak supporter on the train up to Glasgow and he was hilarious. :gaydance:
