Arsenal goalkeeper Jens Lehmann is being linked with a move to Spain.

The Times says Gunners boss Arsene Wenger faces a battle to keep Jens Lehmann at Arsenal after interest from Seville.

The Spanish club are prepared to offer the Germany goalkeeper a two-year contract when his deal expires next summer, in contrast to the one-year offer that he can expect at Arsenal. That means Lehmann could sign a pre-contract agreement next month.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is tracking Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper Roman Weidenfeller.

The Times says the Gunners have scouted the 26 year-old, who is tied to the club until 2009, but if Dortmund fail to qualify for the Champions League, as is likely, a contract clause will enable him to leave for £3 million.

Weidenfeller is expected to win his first international cap in Germany's friendly against Switzerland in February and, after replacing Jens Lehmann at Dortmund four years ago, would welcome the chance to do the same at Arsenal.

So if there is any truth to this then it could end up happening like this: Arsenal let Lehmann for a tidy sum, and buy Weidenfeller (11 years younger than Lehmann and nearly as good) for a VERY big discount from Dortmund, who need the money.

Personally, I would love to see this happen as a Arsenal fan, but would hate to see him go as a supporter of Dortmund. It's a quagmire!

Lehmann is getting older, and his mistakes are getting alot more apparent lately (especially fumbles and misjudging crosses) and he is also drawing alot of stupid fouls and loosing his temper a lot more often than usual. It may be time to let him go, and replace him with someone younger.

Roman would be the perfect choice. He's one of the best keepers in the Bundesliga. Tall (only a inch shorter than Lehmann) muscular, has a commanding presence and is very agile for a man of his size, great reflexes.

It would be a great move, should it happen.

Well, all keepers have a bad day or two, but lately Jens has been making more than a few of them. It wasn't always that way though. He was the best keeper in the CL last season and impressed greatly in the WC this summer. He also has more than his fair share of silverware! He must be doing something right ;)

I don't think he will. Lehmann talked about how he may retire after Euro 08 & was talking about how he'd like to go back to Germany and play. So i'm not sure he'll go to Spain and play.

This could be a beneficial move on the Arsenal side. His mistakes and temper is becoming increasingly frustrating for the fans, let alone the players. We definitely need to bring in someone new.

I don't know much at all about Roman, but if hes one of the best in the Bundesliga then hes got to be decent and with the age, hes ideal.

Would love to see a player with the name Weidenfeller in the premiership...maybe you could sign that Hesslink guy as well

Match high lites of the game vs. Stuttgart earlier this season. He makes some good saves. Only allowed 1 goal, but as you will see it was a deflected header and he stood no chance against it.
