Latest rumours, I'd be extremely delighted if we signed any one of them, especially Fernandes. Its great to see that the Lucho rumour was probably true, which means that Moyes is willing to spend over another 10million this summer.

Bringing in both of them would be fantastic and I hope these arent just rumours!

EVERTON are lining up a sensational £18million double swoop for Yakubu and Manuel Fernandes after missing out on bringing Luis Gonzalez to Goodison.

David Moyes has moved quickly to alter his targets after admitting defeat in his attempts to sign Argentina international midfielder Gonzalez, who has instead negotiated a new deal with his club Porto.

The Portuguese club rejected Everton’s £10m offer for the 26-year-old after spending £4m to acquire the remaining 50% of the player’s ownership rights.

Fernandes, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Everton, was thought to be close to joining Sven-Goran Eriksson’s new-look Manchester City.

But the Portuguese midfielder made no secret of his desire to make permanent a move to Everton during his spell at the club and the Goodison outfit are now clear favourites to capture his signature after lodging a bid in the region of £8m for the 21-year-old Benfica player.

Everton’s need for a new striker became more pressing when James Vaughan was sidelined until at least November with a dislocated shoulder and James Beattie was sold to Sheffield United for £4m.

And Moyes has made what is believed to be a club record £10m offer for Middlesbrough forward Yakubu.

The Nigerian cost the Teessiders £7.5m when arriving from Portsmouth in 2005, with this former club among a number of clubs linked with a move for the 24-year-old.

But Everton are prepared to smash the club record £8.6million they splashed out on Andrew Johnson to sign Yakubu, and can offer the prospect of European football.

Agreed with Boro_Boy, Boro will have to hold onto him, Great if they both come, I can't see it.

We missed out on both Smith and Nugent, we should've really got them while they was available. Unless Boro make a BIG mistake, we wont be getting Yakubu

As for Fernandez he said it was great playing for Everton, but he was going back to the other league. Who knows.

Boro can't afford to lose Yakubu. If we sell him, I don't think any of the fans would be happy. We are gonna struggle this season as it is. If the Yak goes, who is gonna score goals?

Tuncay is gonna be playing on the right and will probs get 10 goals max. Aliadiere will be lucky if he even gets near double figures. Downing will probs score max 5, Boateng might score 1 or 2.

Hopefully Arca will pitch in with a few this season as well.

Wouldn't be surprised if the Yakubu deal falls through, our Fernandes deal has miraculously fallen through now that they've got the fans to vote for Kirkby.

well its evertons fault for stalling wasnt it.. he wanted to make sure he moved before the window closed..

He was all up for the move to everton.. if they had just pushed to get the deal through quicker you would have had him

It's all our own fault. I don't blame Fernandes, if you take a step back, us or Valencia is a no brainer. The club should have had him signed at the start of the summer. Another big oppertunity wasted by the club..

I really dont see how you can blame the club for this. The big money seemingly only came in a few weeks ago which is why we hadnt gone for him before. The whole delay is due to the FA not due to Everton FC. They want to search the whole damn contract top to bottom. Although they should have made Fernandes sign something in case a situation like this did occur...

It's both the fault of our club and Manuel. He obviously couldn't be arsed waiting a few extra days to become an Everton player, if that's his attitude then so be it.
The club should had done everything in it's power to keep him, we didn't. We still haven't told the fans what actually happened. Wyness has hiis yes vote and I think that means alot more to him than bringing in Manuel, we have put up with Kenwright doing this to us for years.
Second time Valencia have taken advanatge of us dithering over transfers. I can't believe one day he's at our stadium cheering the team on, the next morning he's having a medical for another club.
Where hs this money came from? Outside investment from BCR sports or a loan? Either way we SHOULD had got Manuelat the end of the season, when we had first option on him, for an agreed fee, we could had rested easy in the two or so week that the FA apparently comb over the transfer, as no-one could bid for him, so why have we waited untill no to do this? In my opinion it's because the money doesn't exist.

Just a note lads. We are ran by clowns, we missed out on Manuel, but more importantly than anything it seems Mikel Arteta will be staying with us for many years to come. We still have Moyes who I now trust 100%. This is a blow, but just think how much more it would be if we didnt have this lad, by far the superior to Fernandes.

He wanted to make sure he found a new club before the window closed.. Valencia was the club who could do it the quickest so he joined them..i dont see a problem with that.. not like he owes anything to everton

Yeah, right, he trained at our facilities for the passed week, he watched the blackburn game, he did his medical, he assured kenright he'd be joining us, he said he's going home, goes 2 valencia instead and signs for them. He is not dumb, he knows the premier league are worried over the issue of 3rd parties. As far as I'm concerned hes a fucking backstabber and will get more stick than ever if he ever returns to goodison park (or even kirkby for that matter).

what do you want him to do, let everton take so long that the transfer window passes by and then he misses out on the valencia opportunity aswell. then he would have been stuck at his previous club

Just look at Yakubu, looks like that wont be happening.. maybe the club needs to find how to put transfer through quicker

Theres nothing the club can damn well do, obviously if there was, it would have been done. Is it the clubs fault that the FA dont allow 3rd parties? That Yakubu cant get a work permit? His deal would definitely have gone through, he didnt even comment properly on turning his back on us and he told the chairman he'd be staying. Cant he notify the board of his worries? He is a coward.

Au contraire, "he is wonderful and he signing for us" now he isn't he is a ******. Good player and a great choice going to a bigger club than Everton.

david moyes tell you that himself did he?

The club statement told me.

Official Club statement regarding Manuel Fernandes (issued Monday, August 27):

Everton Football Club feels it should clarify the situation with regards to Manuel Fernandes.

We worked hard all last week on what was a very difficult and complex three-party agreement.

Everton staff worked through the night on Thursday, finally reaching agreement with the English footballing authorities on Friday afternoon.

A similar night's work on Friday left us satisfied that we had both addressed and agreed all issues with the other involved parties.

However, on Saturday we were informed that another club had come in with a rival bid and despite sustained efforts over the remainder of the weekend the player today joined Valencia.

David Moyes and his coaching staff are continuing to seek the extra addition to our squad, which they feel they require for this season.
