Middlesbrough have joined the chase to sign Tottenham striker Mido.
Boro have matched the £6m offers from Birmingham and Sunderland for the 24-year-old Mido and have been given permission to speak to him by Spurs.
Boro boss Gareth Southgate said: "Yes we have made our interest in Mido known to Spurs. We're awaiting developments."

If this happens, would it mean that Yakubu is bound to Everton??

Mido would be a good buy for the boro. On the boro website it says that Yakubu is not going anywhere. So we might just buy him to have another striker in the squad.

Same here, especially when we need an out and out right winger.

Must admit, if you sign him, I think Yak will be on his way... (Well maybe im just dreaming :) )

I don't see why so many clubs are interested in him. He's a problem player. He has the talent but there's a reason why he's played for so many clubs and why he's been kicked off the Egypt squad in the past.

Keith Lamb and Gareth Southgate have both denied that the Yak is leaving the riverside. He is staying at the boro. We'll probably just sign him to stregthen the squad because we missed out on Smith.

Well it's about damned time somebody took him. Although I read a little while ago that Sunderland were upping their offer, so maybe there will be a bidding war. :nodyes:

I see him as a problem player, he would bring stress into to the club if signed. As for Yak, if anyone comes and increases the offer to 12mill it will be very hard not to take it.

He's completed a medical and stuff for boro but no fee has been agreed, and sunderland have made a bid for him a bigger bid than boro's

On the Simply Red Sunday radio phone in the Sky News man (David Grey) was saying that Mido/ Boro have agreed personal terms, he's met Lamb/ Southgate had "some kind of medical"
though Sunderalnd have reportedly upped their offer to Spurs. So it's looking like what's already being mooted on here is true. Mido wants to come to Boro but Boro haven't come to an agreement with Spurs whereas Sunderland have so it looks like a bidding war.
Some reservations regarding his tempermant, he's won't be a problem will he???

He won't go to Sunderland. He wants to come to middlesbrough. We just have to agree a fee then he's ours lol
