Hello all,
I thought i would give this a go seems as every fan wants to know why there were so many empty seats on saturday.
First of all let me ask how many of you watch the rubbish that Steve Mclaren's England team serve up? Well imagine watching that week in and week out. Would you want to spend £400 for a season ticket after putting up with that for four seasons?
Yes you may say that we no longer have Mclaren as our manager but Southgate had his squad which was full of players with no pace no passion and no belief. This year Southgate has the chance to put his stamp on the squad.
There are many problems work wise in Middlesbrough with us having a very high unemployment rate which means that not everyone can afford the price of a ticket. I again know that other places do have unemployment but for a small town (yes remember we are only a town) we dont have a very large catchment area.
Then there is the running of the club and how this is leaving a sour taste in many peoples mouths. the club this year recieved the most money it ever has from the TV deal and instead of giving something back to the fans by reducing prices we froze them again which the club seen as a triumph.
When we were told Season Ticket sales had dropped Mr Keith Lamb announced that he wasnt worried as we make money from matchday sales anyway. How gratefull he was to the season ticket holders like myself. Oh how loved we feel after paying our hard earned cash to continue supporting the club we love.
Then there is the situation with contracts which annoys a lot of people who follow the club as it did Mr Viduka and continues to annoy Mr Schwartzer. I will hold my hands up and say that I did sing sign him up with the other 25,000 last season wanting to keep Mr Viduka and i would have been very happy if we had.
So these are the reasons why some people have turned there back on the club and there are these empty seats but for a premiership club 25,000 is not good enough.
Good post there and I agree with everything they say, Southgate has brought in speed and attacking football whcih we did see this Saturday. We can only get better and grow into a great football club, I think by the end of the season, the football will be of a fast pace attacking type and people will return to the stadium.
