Do you remember February 1993 when a young boy of 3
Was taken from a Liverpool shopping centrer by two 10-year-old boys?

Jamie Bulger walked away from his mother for only a Second.

Jon Venables took his hand and led him out of the mall with his Friend Robert Thompson.

They took Jamie on a walk for over 2 and a half miles, along the way
Stopping every now and again to torture the poor Little boy who was
Crying constantly for his mummy.

Finally they stopped at a railway track where they brutally kicked him,
Threw stones at him, rubbed paint in his eyes, pushed batteries up
His anus and cut his fingers off with scissors.

Other Mutilations were Inflicted but not reported in the press. What these two boys did was So horrendous that Jamie's mother was forbidden to Identify his body.

They then left his beaten small body on railway tracks so a train could run him over to hide the mess they had created.

These two boys, even being boys, understood what they did was wrong,
Hence trying to Make it look like an accident.

This week Lady Justice Butler-Sloss has awarded the two boys anonymity
For the rest of their lives when they leave custody with new Identities.

They will also leave custody early only serving just over half of their
Sentence. They are being relocated to Australia to live out the rest of
Their lives.

They disgustingly and violently took Jamie's life away and in return they each get a new life!

One my my mate's Dad worked in the Young Offenders Institute (might not be the correct terminology) where one of the killers was kept, he told me that releasing him was undoubtedly the right thing to do. He was a very different 16-year-old to the evil kid who murdered Jamie Bulger.

IMO they didn't get anwhere near enough punishment, they should have gone to jail for much longer. But releasing them eventually with new identities was perhaps the right thing to do.

Just read the article, very moving.

I'm not keen on people being let off because of their upbringing/a disability because you can blame any crime on those (also the ridiculous case of Leopold and Loeb in America). However, when there's no clear motive, whether it be the case of a paedophile or this case, you have to accept that the offender has a serious problem, when it happens at that age, it's more like an illness.

For these reasons, I think they should be locked up, not necessarily in awful conditions as long as needs be, if that's life sentence then fine, but if there 'ready' to go out into the outside world then fine too.

What intrigues me is how they actually tell these people are no longer dangerous? In general, it seems people are routinely let out of jail early than for a reason. You just have to look at the rates of reoffending to see this is the case but thats beside the point.

If they are going to be let out though, I don't see why their identities shouldn't be protected. If they are no longer a threat to society and have served their time, then why shouldn't they be able to live a normal life?

I disagree with that. I know people where their childhood and innocence was completely ruined by their parents or by people they trusted and they don't go brutally killing a little boy. The parents should get the blame for being poor role models, but the boys clearly knew they were doing wrong as they felt the need to attempt to cover up their disgusting actions by putting the icing on the cake and letting a train run over the poor little boy. They may not have had the best upbringing, but if they knew what they were doing was wrong then they're very much to fault and need to be locked away for life.
