Do you think we should introduce video refereeing from next season for decisions such as sending offs, penalties and goal line decisions?

People say it will take too long but it won't it would take about 10 seconds to make a decision, they have it in rugby and it works for them.

Big talking point at the moment.

Personally, introducing GOAL-LINE technology would be great. However, I think that it could possibly go too far after that. It could creep into different areas of the game, such as sendings off, offsides.

It shouldn't be brought in for offsides, because then whats the point of the Assistant Referees being there. Yes, they are there to judge throw-ins etc, but surely the Asisstant Referees sole purpose is to judge offside decisions.

So, goal-line yes, rest of the game, no.

I like the idea of goal-line technology. That way, we know for sure that the ball has crossed for line and the defenders can't claim it didn't cross the line.

i think goal line would work, like in Rugby when they check the balls touched down. If they stopped the clock then i dont see how it could be slowing the game down. I personally think that is an escuse.

It will also stop people like Andy Gray examining every single decision the referee has maked. He gets on my tits he does.

That is what happens though, on 'Super Sunday - the Last Word' from every game that weekend, and every time the whistle goes to the refs mouth, you can be sure that Andy gray will be onto it.

Don't forget that Andy Gray is a qualified referee aswell. ;)

I do like all the technology they have with all the coloured lines showin attempts and thing. I agree aboput Andy Gray, hes also really repetative.

It would make the referees job easier as well. You cant argue with a video decision.

True, but your not meant to argue with the referees decision anyway ;)

I know at Old Trafford they have a monitor down by the touchline that the managers have a look at sometimes, I don't know about other clubs. That's what they should have everywhere, with the fourth official contacting the ref if he has been wrong/

Do you think they will bring it in during next season, isn't one of the cup finals going to trial it?

yeah they do have it at some other clubs, not all though. However, these pictures aren't allowed to be shown on the big screens at the ground.

Yeah but everyone does.

It should be useful for the whole diving issue. I think it would work if it was bought in gradually to trial it. Trialing it at a game would be useful to see how it would work. I think if some grounds do it, then all grounds should.

Yeah, i hope it could be used to stamp out cheaters.

It could act as a deterrent if they know theres a video recording them then surely they are clever enough to realise diving isnt a good idea. Its common sense.

I agree with goal line technology. The monitor idea sound right, they already have the walkie talkie/earpiece thing one more piece of information won't hurt.

As for the rest of the game, no video refereeing. You end up with manager questioning every call

bluemoon

but surely its not up to the manager to decide. It would be up to the referee to decide to go to the video or not.

well you've seen how players swarm a ref on a call, giving their opinion and telling him to talk to assistant ref. It would be no different, the fourth official is in the same area as the manager, he would end up be 'swarmed' too

I suppose, but there would be no harm in trying it. I dont get how Rugby can be so different at the end of the day they are both games.

i think the big difference is that in rugby you don't have whinny players :p

And in rugby, everyone, not just the players, respect the referees.

i do like the idea of only the captain allowed to speak to the ref in rugby. should be brought in to footy aswell:)

Exactly, not only will it calm the game down, but the referees and their assistants will gain more respect.

What do you think about the idea of a four man panel watching TV replays and being able to advise the ref, if the ref wants it. Take for example the Sheff Utd v Wigan match. Instead of asking the useless lino, the ref could have been told by the video panel that it was a penalty.

notts ref

Good idea, but the FA wouldn't have enough man power. I mean a 4man panel at EVERY game inthe Premiership and Cocoa Cola Leagues, is a hell of a lot of people and money.

Ok what about just one person? Surprised to hear a ref back that plan!
