View Full Version : Should managers be fined for criticizing refs?
Not sure about this one, sometimes you just think leave it out, when they are always whinging about refs, because it isn't going to change anything.
Other times I just think the authorities should actually listen to them sometimes.

it depens if its a personal vendetta though, the words Alladyce and riley spring to mind but if there has been a poor decision then i think the manager deserves to have a moan. Pearce.....Riley......Penalty to name a couple of words.
I think Mourinhio, Warnock et al should eat some humble pie sometimes though.

i think untill the video ref comes out, ref are imperfect and cant always see well with other players in the way, i say managers should try and understand that
I don' think managers should get a fine for showing there point of view about decisions made in the game. Thats what makes football, well football, decisions sometimes go your way and sometimes they don't. The ref can only see a from a certain angle and when you see the situation on a replay, you'll see different to what the ref has seen.
I think manager should be able to say whatever they want it just makes it more interesting. Whatever happens to Mourinhio, everyone is laughing at him, because he is so wrong, it doesn't matter whether you fine him or not

No managers should not be fined for criticizing managers. Its just part of the game isn't it, if the ref has a bad game then they must deserve it.

Everyones entitled to free speech. However when things start to get personal, racist, sexist etc, then thats when managers have crossed the line.
A manager saying, "Oh the ref had a bad game today". Thats harmless really, the ref will know he's probably made a mistake, but he probably doesn't need someone who is less qualififed than him to tell him.
So no they shouldn't, until they cross that line though.

yes fair enough as there is no need to get personal, racist, sexist, when talking about a referees performance.

Exactly, i think that a criticism at the refs decision is all part of the game. From the comments ive heard its never really got personal, but when personal opinions come to mind then its different. Theres that ref that Alladyce cant stick is it Riley, his comments arent that bad even though its publically aware that he hates the guy. He just says the same as other ajitated managers when decisions dont go there way.
A fine doesnt seem to be the right way about it, they should just get a few bans from the sidelines, that does plenty of damage. And it should get the point across. At the end of the day, the referee is bound to upset one manager.
