..... If

They had not been docked the points.

Personally I don't think they would have had the determination to prove that they could be promoted. A lot of other teams would have been playing for survival or lower/mid table. There is just something about Leeds United, they have 100% grit and determination to win the league after being a massive 15 points down.

The 15 point deduction at first was a bad thing, but now I think its worked totally in Leeds United favour. In a few years they might be back in top flight football and I hope so, then their stand can be sponsored by Lurpak again instead of Ali's Corner shop haha.

Definitely not. Those docked points made the team more motivated and as a result of which they are where they are in the table. I think it has really been a remarkable ''fairy tale'' if you'd like to call it. Scoring in the 90th + minute to win 1-0 is really lucky. But do they care?? No. Because look where they are...only a couple more points and they're in the play-offs

Nah.....

they play as normal....if they lose -15 points, they must be determined!!! thats why they did like that. ;)

Keep going Leeds, i like to see Leeds become champion must be record? :undecided:

15 Points docked gave them motivation, no doubt about that.

The docking of point did give them determination. If no points were deducted the relegation itself would have been a motivator. So to me they would be playing the same with or without the point deduction.

Nah no way, I can't have seen them putting this much effort it. Now they are playing for promotion, proving EVERYONE wrong who had wrote them off and best of all sticking two fingers up at the League Officials.

Leeds have been winning, and apart from 3 or 4 games, without really playing well. The team are very fit and highly motivated, they play hard from start to finish.

But we have been scrapping results. The team are slowly gelling together, we will hopefully start to play some better football and still keep the results flowing.

People should appreciate that the team has been rebuilt, wether the 15 point deduction made any difference, who cares, it is history, the club, team and fans have moved on, so to hell with the fa and all the other spineless clubs who voted for the 15 point deduction:nod:

Didn't realise the other clubs voted for it? If they did then surely that's wrong as obviously they will go for the deduction as it the opposition.

Basically it is old hat now, but the fa put the vote to the other 71 clubs in the Championship Div 1 and 2. They needed at least 75% of the clubs to agree to the 15 point deduction.

It was overwhelming well over 75%, a few clubs voted in favour of Leeds, I had a list of how the vote went. Forest I think are the only Div 1 team that voted for Leeds,

I thought you would have known about the vote, it is common knowledge:nod:

15 points though, its shocking and totally wrong. Anyway like you said its in the past and you have all moved on. Can't wait to see you lot in the Premiership. I used to like going to Leeds and watching us lose lol.

Personally, I think that Leeds are too good a team for League One anyway. Well, I think that they have a few key players in there who serve the team well enough to be able to say that they´re too good for this league. However, I have to agree with BB, I don´t think they´d have been as determined had they not had the points deducted, but I do still think they´d go back to Championship either way.

It is generally accepted that Forest are the only Div1 team to support Leeds in the vote.

The 2 Sheffield clubs, Bradford City, Plymouth, Rotherham and Burnley are other clubs who supported Leeds.

However I have seen various lists which are not accurate, some state that Gillingham supported Leeds, when quite clearly they did not.

Their chairman, Scally, has, with a certain degree of sarcasm quite openly admitted that he voted for the 15 point deduction. We drew with them away and had 2 players sent off. I would have loved to have been in the directors suite after the game, I believe Mr Bates exchanged greetings with Scally.

Nottingham Forest are the only club in Div 1 who voted for us. I hope they along with Leeds gain promotion this season. I cannot print what I feel about all the other "sporting clubs" in Div 1.

Notts County did not vote for Leeds.

The decision is still the subject of an appeal by Leeds United. The vote itself seems to have been a rushed affair, some legal experts, depending on what articles you read on the subject, question the legality of the vote.

I don't know, I am no legal eagle. All I am concerned about is climbing the league against teams who's chairmen don't like playing it fair. I ain't complaining, just posting a reply to this thread.

If Leeds don't win the league, the team will always be remembered as the team who didn't really win it, if we are less than 15 points behind them.

Incidentally I hope we don't get the 15 points back. The chairmen can keep them and shove them where the sun don't shine:nod:

If that's the same list I've seen then it's almost certainly bullshit, Gillingham certainly didn't vote in our favour while Leicester almost certainly did.

This is what I know so far:

Voted Against Leeds:
Crewe Alexandra
Crystal Palace
Gillingham
Hartlepool Utd
Oldham Athletic
Peterborough Utd
Port Vale
Stockport County
Tranmere Rovers

Voted For Leeds:
Darlington
Leicester
Swindon

As for whether we'd be doing as well as we currently are without the deduction, it's hard to say. It certainly gave us an extra bit of motivation to do as well as we possibly can, a chance to make history and the chance to upset the odds. It also galvanised the team spirit by giving the players, fans, staff and management a common focus and enemy.

However, I think just the sheer elation that came with our club being granted the right to compete in League One (and indeed exist) would have had a hell of an impact on its own, like when someone has a near-death experience and thinks "right, from now on I'm gonna live every day to the full".

So who knows? In any case it just shows once again that Leeds United can never do things the easy way :D
