Spurs & Man Utd ask for more subs

"Every club has players of squads of more than 16 players," said Ferguson.

Manchester City boss Sven-Goran Eriksson also favours a change in the Premier League's rules on substitutes, with managers allowed to bring on three players from a choice of five.

Premier League voting rules require 14 out of the 20 clubs to back rule changes.

I think it would be a good idea, you would be able to bring back players for last 10 mins of a game just to give them a bit of play without worring how many subs you can do, the general idea is that it will be better for bigger clubs rather than small, but i think small clubs would prefer it, it means in the last 10 mins when your team is crap cause there all knackered, you could bring on 5 fresh players,

what do you think

Well it mentions nothing about changing the number you can choose. It should stay as three, but increase the number on the bench so you have more choice.

Nah, they don't want to increase the amount of subs you can bring out as it would make the game pointless and boring. Your losing 2-0 with 30 min left, lefts bring 5 players on, thats half the team on the pitch (minus keeper), just would be a daft move.

I think it's a good idea. Means youth players can make their way onto the bench when they may be sacrificed when there are only 5 subs.

yeah it would be good for squad players, to get on the bench, it means you can have more position specific subs also.

just means you'll have 4 disappointed players now rather than 2
