Scotland v Italy
Hampden Park, Glasgow
Saturday, 17 November
Kick-off: 1700 GMT
Italy visit Scotland in their effort to qualify to Euro08. Scotland need the win to ensure their passage to the finals, same as Italy. The Italians sit third in qualifying Group B and a defeat would leave the Azzurri needing France to lose in Ukraine, assuming they win their own relatively easy final game at home to the Faroe Islands, to qualify.
Post your thoughts and impressions here. As well make a bet if you want and discuss the ins and outs of the match!

I agree with you there. The rest and the crowd will be major contributers toward a Scotland win! 5k on them too.
Lets hope they don't get beaten by a counter-attacking Italian team:animatedfear:

4000 on Italy to win, I doubt Scotland will beat them, yeah they have the crowds but I just think Italy will be too strong. Would like to see Scotland beat them though.

Isn't it like that every time? A lot of hype and hope is put on the national team and at the end, they find a way to f*ck it up.
Regardless, I'm rooting for Scotland!!:thumbup1:

you kinda wonder why they are playing with alone striker. Italy are going all out and have 3!

That pisses me off when clubs play with 1 striker, what is the point, it doesn't work!!!!

the ball got moved up the left wing and then passed on ground to the middle of the box just as Toni was running by and put it in. Oh and it wasn't a fast paced pass, imo

massive break for scotland. Italian goal disallowed due to offside... but there was really no one offside :yikes:

yes. :animatedfear:
If Scotland win, they qualify.
If Scotland lose, they are out.
If Scotland draw, then their hopes rest on Ukraine doing them a favour by beating France in the final set of group matches on 21 November. If they have drawn, a point for France in Ukraine would put Scotland out - barring the mother and father of all shocks in Italy courtesy of the Faroe Islands.

Yes you have had some great results, real shame you didn't get the result today. I honestly wanted Scotland to go through. :( oh well.
You definitely have a much stronger, better team this time.
Must be heartbreaking losing it so late. But the future looks bright for you and in 2nd seed for the World Cup you have a very good chance of qualifying
How the referee could give that free kick to Italy, when it was clearly a foul the other way is beyond me. The players and fans of Scotland you should hold your heads up high. You should have at least got a draw in that game today. Be proud of your team and fans tonight.

I was so sad when I found out the score. I lost my internet connection at half time and had to settle watching the Israel/Russia match.
Great performance by Scotland and hopefully they will get a easier group for WC qualifiers; with the passion they showed on Saturday they deserve a good WC run!
