Newcastle v Birmingham [MD]

St James' Park
Saturday, 8 December
Kick-off: 1500 GMT

Newcastle are still without Michael Owen (thigh), Stephen Carr (hamstring), Abdoulaye Faye (calf) and Claudio Cacapa (knee).

Left winger Damien Duff's return from a foot injury was put on hold when a reserve game was called off.

Birmingham midfielder Gary McSheffrey has a minor hip injury but should be available, while forward Garry O'Connor (groin) should return to the squad.

Damien Johnson has played two reserve games but is unlikely to figure.
