yeah just read it, it's a terrible shame, and becoming increasingly more common than in previous decades.

This is terrible news. He was a player I liked but suffered at Celtic due to injury. My thoughts go to his family.
Not nice to see anybody collapse but terrible when a player dies. Brings back emmories of Foe a few years back. RIP

Feel for his family and his team. He has been somewhat of a driving force from midfield this season for Motherwell.
RIP

something about him that i thought should be mentioned- a real testament to the man, and something that the beckhams, ronaldos and ferdinands would never even consider
THE untimely death of Phil O'Donnell overshadowed the week's football and put everything in perspective.
As any Wednesdayite will tell you, he didn't leave behind a host of Hillsborough memories for the simple reason that his four years there were bedevilled by injury and he hardly played, making only 20 appearances in that time and pretty scattered they were too.
But what he does leave behind is a philosophy that many footballers far more famous than Phil O'Donnell ought to ponder - and it's not bad advice for those with talent pushing their way through.
It stems from O'Donnell's early days at Motherwell where he was a star in the youth set-up.
He arrived at their Fir Park ground one night for a Youth Cup final only to be turned away by an official who obviously didn't recognise him.
Rather than kick up a fuss or complain, the young O'Donnell PAID to get in and then played in the game!
"My family taught me to keep my feet on the ground," he explained later.

Quality, footballers today think they are gods gift and the majority of them would have kicked up a fuss over that. From what i've read about O'Donnell he seemed like a down to earth guy who just got on with life.
I didn't know a lot about him but I've read so many good things since his sad death. Thoughts to his family and friends. RIP.
Never heard of him (before now). I'm surprised no has come out with the usual, "it puts everything in perspective".
Just as if.
