Exclusive Booze Bill Bankrupts Biggest Supporters' Bar

CELTIC fans' headquarters has gone bust owing thousands to a booze supplier.

Bosses at the Celtic Supporters Association Social Club did not pay one of their drink suppliers for more than a year.

Wholesalers William Morton Ltd, who claim they are owed more than Â£10,000, have now had the club made bankrupt.

The social club, based by the team's old Barrowfield training HQ, was sequestrated at Glasgow Sheriff Court last month.

Liquidators Invocas were appointed the club's interim trustees and are working to settle the financial dispute.

The social club rent the premises from the Celtic Supporters Association. Former manager Kenny Dalglish famously held his press conferences there during his reign.

It's understood social club bosses failed to respond to numerous requests for the booze bill to be paid and failed to meet to organise repayments to the company.

One source said: "The debt is in excess of Â£10,000 so we're not talking about pocket change.

"Not many businesses can afford to write off that kind cash."

But last night a spokesman for Invocas said he expected the matter to be resolved and revealed an application will be made at the Court of Session to have the sequestration recalled.

He added: "It appears to have been a debt recovery issue that has gone too far."

Yesterday the social club was still open for business.

Manager Daniel Feeley said: "No one has been sequestrated. We've been in dispute and the matter is in the hands of our lawyers."

William Morton Ltd's secretary Brian Robertson said: "It would be inappropriate to comment as the matter is still ongoing."

And about 0.075% of Celtic fans drink in there let alone know it exists so it does affect all those fans. Nothing to do with Superally having a rather weak shot at Celtic.

Its a story linked to celtic,simple as.

Rangers debt has been drastically reduced over the last few years,to less then Â£20m, and less than celtics too!

As for the Â£700m selling hutton would have been a start!
