From BBC Sport:

Newcastle owner Mike Ashley has vowed to stamp his authority on his troubled club and run it the way he wants.

The billionaire, who has invested £250m so far, was speaking as he defended his decision to sack manager Sam Allardyce.

"I had to act, and I did what I should have done in the first place," he told the News of the World.

"I must admit that when I bought this club, my instinct was to bring in my own team to run it straight away, including a new manager," he said.

"That's no reflection on Sam, that's just the way I have always done things.

"But for once in my life I ignored my intuition and, looking back, that was a mistake."

He said he is desperate to bring silverware to St James' Park, but more importantly he wants to see exciting football at Newcastle.

He said: "I want a team that will go all out to try to give Chelsea a walloping, that will try to stuff Tottenham and that will be brave and bold enough to attack Manchester United."

---------

We don't have a manager. We don't have anyone that wants to be our manager. We have a shite team.

If he wants us to play exciting football he's going to have to spend big. Now way are the likes off Butt, Smith, Carr or Enrique gunna play exciting football. Put ******* Emre in the team...

It really makes no sense sacking him now. does asheley even know what hes doing? he sacks sam in the transfer window, which was the main period that Newcastle needed to act in. now you are going to get no players in this january as you dont have a manager. and you will just have sams team with a different manager running it. what was the point?

if he was going to sack him should have been before so a manager could use the window or at the end of the season

Who would you like to see brought in as Manager Tom?

Exactly, I thought he'd sacked at him at the start of January becuase he had someone lined up to take over and to do their own thing.

I don't actually have a clue mate. Wouldn't of minded having Redknapp but he doesn't want us.

in that interview it states they thought that redknapp would jump to it, which is why they got rid of sam so quickly. seems like a rash decision now.
