The problem with Liverpool is Steven Gerrard!

Why Liverpool will never win the Premier League!
At their first press conference, Tom Hicks and George Gillett came across as a pair of bumbling idiots, cut from the same cloth as George W Bush. “If Rafa said he wanted to buy Snoogy Doogy we would back him” stated Gillett. Brilliant. Either Gillett is a comic genius, light years ahead of the rest of the population or he’s a complete buffoon. I’m going to plump for the latter and I don’t think there are many people who will argue. However, their buffoonery does not make them accountable for yet another miserable season in the league for Liverpool. Certainly they haven’t helped matters, but forking out several million on Spanish wunderkind Fernando Torres also hasn’t exactly damaged Liverpool.

great article. It is true that Gerrard hampers as much as he contributes at Liverpool.... he should be put back to the wing

Nothing at all wrong with Stevie G, the blokes got it all. Intelligent eye for the game, passion, loyalty and talent in abundance! Never read such crap!!

Gerrard is one of the best midfielders in the world and thats coming from someone who hates his guts. Anyone who thinks otherwise deserves castraiting. He is the heart and soul of the Liverpool squad, when they play with out him, it's like playing with 10 men.

i haven't really read it properly, but i agree with certain parts- i wouldn't say he's not a great player as such, but he does seem incapable of adequately controlling the tempo. he likes to go at it hell for leather all the time, and thats not always the best thing to do. he needs to learn when to go all-out and when to calm it down, and at 27 years-old he should already know that, and instead of looking at it from a liverpool point of veiw (because lets face it, only scousers can adequately do that) looking from an england side that's one of the reasons he doesn't look too good in an england shirt most of the time he wears it. i assume the writer of the article sees the same for liverpool- i don't know, but it really is an essential part of a midfielders game, especially when england don't have a proper holding player who can kill a game

I dont think he always goes hell for leather, I think he's just very noticable when he does. I think the only weakness he sometimes has is when he gets frustrated with the slower tempo especially when his fellow team mates seem lack-lustre and he tries to dictate a faster pace. I personally cant fault anyone who plays with passion, I think he's awsome!!!!

passions all well and good- but sometimes you need someone in there who'll just kill the game. gerrard either doesn't want to or can't do that

Leeds fan - honest.

IMO Gerrard is class.

Liverpool not far short of winning the Prem, not this year obviously.

Some Arsenal supporters didn't rate Henry to start with, some on this forum even had ago at Adebayor earlier this season.

On this thread somebody had ago at Torres, give him time.

Winning trophies is a hard thing to achieve in Pro football, it is so easy to see the true FOOTBALL FANS on this forum, digest what is said before you respond on FOOTBALL THREADS.

The other threads are irrelevent and superficial IMHO.
