Leeds United are to sue The Football League over their 15-points deduction, despite a signed agreement stating they would not take legal action against them.

Whites chairman Ken Bates has consistently pleaded Leeds' case against their deduction, which came about after the club failed to exit administration with an agreed Company Voluntary Arrangement (CVA) in place.

After numerous appeals and patience on Leeds' part, they have now decided to take The Football League to high court in order to force an open and independent review of their points deduction.

No Justification

"We're suing the Football League for our 15 points because we believe, as we always have, that there was no justification for the penalty," he told the Yorkshire Evening Post.

"The agreement we had saying we wouldn't take legal action was signed under duress. We were a couple of days from the start of the season and we wouldn't have been able to fulfil our fixtures without regaining our share in the Football League.

"In that situation, we either signed the document or we let ourselves be booted out of the League. But EU law says Person A cannot prevent Person B from going to court if it's to right a wrongful decision.

"We did ask the FA for independent arbitration but we've been waiting five months for them to do anything, and the whole thing is a shambles.

"We want an open and independent review of this decision, and the only way of ensuring that is by going to the High Court."skysports.com

looks like this ones going right down to the wire- who's the biggest laughing stock, weeds or the blunts?

I am quite prepared to admit that I have done my fair share of winding you up myself. This is never going to end though is it? You just can't help yourself, and you like doing all this. If you want to keep it going with Black Swan it's up to you, but what's the point?

Please don't get involved with this and encourage them both. I have had it with them both myself, best to let them both get on with it.

Ken Bates today thanked fans from Liverpool, scum, Aston Villa, Manchester City, Chelsea, Spurs, Arsenal and Sheffield United who have faxed, emailed and sent letters of support in our appeal against the 15 point deduction.

Leeds United are due to issue the writ against the FL any day now.

Thank you for opening this very important thread.

Should get the points back, simple as,serious injustice imo.
West Ham??nothing happened to them really.yet the dodgy deal player was the one who kept them up.

and in doing so breach a legal agreement with the league saying they can't- hopefully the league drop heavily on you (thats after you've humiliated yourself to the same levels as united)

1) weeds were punished for a breach of insolvency rules, west ham for player registration

2) weeds broke the rules under the current board, west ham a previous one

3) weeds were punished by the league, west ham by the fa

see why the 2 situations can't be compared?
