View Full Version : Woodgate to sign?

Jonathan Woodgate yesterday delivered another setback to Kevin Keegan — following Newcastle United's 3-0 FA Cup fourth round defeat at Arsenal — by agreeing to sign for Premier League rivals Tottenham.
With Thursday's transfer deadline looming, Woodgate passed a medical at White Hart Lane after agreeing personal terms. Middlesbrough's central defender, 28 last week, will sign for Spurs tomorrow even though he was presumed to be on his way back to St James' Park after Keegan agreed a £7million fee for the player.

This has the potential of being a good buy or a very bad buy. Not because he is good/bad but he is a sicknote.

i dont know whether this is a good thing or a bad thing for us. he is a quality player but struggles with injuries. we have plenty of decent centre backs at the club so i dont reckon we will miss him that much. he hasnt been on best form this season.
If we can get about 9 million for him id take it. hopefully it will be put to use before the window ends, will be pushing it though not long left

I dont see that as a set back for Toon. Surprised he made it through a medical. Good luck to you, hope he manages to make to the end of the season.
hope he manages to make to the end of the season.
He bloody better do :hahaha:
I think that if Woodgate does join Spurs then Ramos’s backroom staff like the physio and dietician will have him fit and ready to play consistently.
I wonder if Jol had still been there, whether Ledley King would be back playing yet?

Good shout, I hope they start working on Bale as soon as possible! Don't want this one turning into a sicknote!

Bet you one of my penguins if he goes to Spurs, dietry plan or not, he'll spend his fair share of matches watching rather than playing..
I found this quite interesting:

yeah that's true because the guys at Real Madrid are just like mexican back alley surgeons
I posted it in the wrong thread - but after today we couldn't replace Dawson sooner.
1st goal - terrible header to clear it and it falls straight to Giggs.
2nd goal - doesn't clear it originally, he does appear to fall, but handballs it deliberately.
Hopefully Woody isn't out for too long and we can draft him in because King and Kaboul will have to start against Everton if he is.

heard a rumour about woodgate today, was told he was seeing Downings sister recently and he has made her pregnant. and all of a sudden he wants to get far away as possible. i knew he was a **** as a person already, but makes sense now, if true why he suddenly wants out of Boro

:boat:
hmm
Putting aside his injury problems, most fans would probably welcome Woodgate to their club. I’m not sure if Arsenal or indeed Tottenham need him apart from strengthening their squad perhaps. I think the central defenders that we have, like King, Dawson, Kaboul, Dervite and Rocha can only improve under the guidance of Ramos.
Spurs are obviously interested in him and his skill and experience will be an asset to any club. We’ll have to wait and see.

A third, unnamed club (not Arsenal), has entered the race to sign Woodgate.

:LolLolLolLol: don't forget a dose of wishful thinking
If we keep them fit - King and Woodgate would be awesome at the back. Hutton and Gilberto to go :thumbup1:
Good work for once Commoli! :nodyes:
