Rangers boss Walter Smith has confirmed that Alan Hutton has flown to London to complete a £9 million move to Tottenham.
Smith admits he is disappointed at the prospect of losing Hutton’s services but that Spurs’ offer was one The Gers could not turn down.
The Scotland international, who is set to become the most expensive player in Scottish football history, has long been on the radar of Manchester United and will arrive in The Premier League with the reputation as one of the best right backs in Europe.
After much deliberation – Hutton earlier rejected a move to Spurs in favour of remaining at Rangers – the 23-year-old has now decided on a move to White Hart Lane.
Smith told Rangers’ official website: “Alan is currently in London and I think that the clubs and player have all reached an agreement. It would look as though, after the remaining formalities, he will now join Spurs.
“The clubs agreed a fee a couple of weeks ago and it was up to Alan to decide what he wanted to do.
“Throughout the club there is disappointment that he is leaving but clearly it was an offer we couldn’t turn down.”
Looks like he is finally joining the yids Great signing, but he took his fooking time!
