Aston Villa bossMartin O'Neill could be set to secure a deal to sign Tottenham Hotspur striker Darren Bent on loan for the remainder of the season.

Sources suggest that O'Neill is looking to boost Villa's options up front and is currently in London trying to tie up a deal to take the £16.5 million striker to Villa Park with a view to a permanent move in the summer.

Bent has scored just 5 goals in 20 appearances since his summer switch from Charlton Athletic and boss Juande Ramos is believed to be prepared to cut their losses on the striker.

cant believe the spuds payed 16.5 million for him. and hes not done much for them. his chances are limited at tottenham due to amount of good strikers they have, but Villa could be a good move for him

I think its because hes been at Celtic, and Villa who are his pet hates. Also Rangers were miles in front of Celtic until ONeill went to Celtic.Hes ok with Irish, tho he hates republicans.

He actually gave a celtic fan,a very good job last year.Very good job.
I never believed him until i met him and his wife.Totally surprised me,that he would give a celtic fan a £60k a year job.(or even a job).He thinks its one of his best decisions ever.He used to have to travel a lot,and spend time away from home. Now he sends the other guy.He has that confidence in him.
