Port Vale visited the Vic last night to leave with no points again, despite their excellent efforts in the first half of the game. Port Vale, who took a 2-0 lead against supposedly better-than-them Hartlepool gave us a good fight last night and it certainly looked like they were taking three points home, until Richie Barker did what he does best and got one in the net. Soon following, Sweeney brought in Hartlepool's second goal; which also resulted in him getting a yellow card due to celebrating by pulling his shirt over his head. The game ended 3-2 (Barker 2, Sweeney 1) and left Vale with the 22 points they'd collected previously throughout the whole season: going below what-was the bottom of the league Bournemouth on goal difference.

I have to say the first half of the match drove me crazy and it was plain to see why we are lingering at the bottom of the table still. Yet again, a poor defence allowed two goals from a passionate Port Vale. Although the second half proved to be something different when we came out all guns blazing and both the team and the crowd seemed to be more passionate than ever about the beautiful game. Kudos goes to their keeper who performed some beautiful saves throughout Pools' many chances within the game.

The referee seemed trigger happy, pulling out the cards multiple times during the game, with Vale's Krystian Pearce having had the only red card of the game. There were more than enough yellow cards and I actually have to say that the referee was very fair and observant throughout the game with only probably one minor mistake made for each side.

The game has left Pools sitting in 17th, as they have been for over two weeks now.
