Reality Check

As of half 1 in the morning slightly pissed off and bored here is what the bottom of the table looks like:

12 Middlesbrough 27 29
13 Newcastle 27 28
14 Wigan 27 26
15 Sunderland 27 26
16 Bolton 26 25
17 Birmingham 27 23
18 Reading 26 22
19 Fulham 27 19
20 Derby 27 9

We currently stand 6 points above the relegation zone and have played pretty much the same number of games as everyone else. Derby are fucked so they're going to finsh bottom. For us to reach the big 40 which usually means you'll stay up we need to win 4 games. Four of our last 11 games are against teams are below us right now. If don't win at least 3 of these then we don't deserve to be in the league. Dreading playing Chelsea and Liverpool, we'll porbably see another rugby score there. Not too sure what I'm trying to say. But things aern't looking good...

Yeh. Newcastle play well at the odd time. Would be sad to see them go down tho altho its very unlikely. My tips are Derby, Fulham and Bolton.

You'll be ok man!! As much as I hate to say this, your too good to go down, there are worse teams than Newcastle in the league, yes Derby are doomed. I think Birmingham and Fulham will do down with Derby, Newcastle will be fine, along with Sunderland and Middlesbrough

Well when we play Liverpool, Chelsea and Portsmouth I can't see us getting anything from those games. Then we'll have to win against the teams in the same position us who'll be fighting for their lives. Unless we start digging in we could lose those games aswell.

The situation is dire, but dont forget we drew against Boro. The cricket scores against us lately have been by Arsenal and Man U. I share your apprehensions but I think we should be able to grind out enough points to stay up. Dismal season though, and as yet I can't see any light at the end of the tunnel.

When Keegan took over I said I wasn't convicned he was the right man for the job. I wanted him to proove me wrong but as yet I remain unconvinced!

The whole club needs sorting out to be honest. It's obvious that Kevin keegan isn't the man for the job. The fans have too much say in the club and what goes on, we should have stuck with Big Sam. How can you appoint a manager let him bring all his staff with him then sack him after just a few months? I almost wish that Newcastle do go down to be honest.

I almost agree with you. Not about the going down but certainly the rest has a ring of truth.

Maybe its because I'm not a Geordie that I can be more objective, but although passion for the game and the club is all very admirable, right now I think the fans are killing the club. It'll take a strong individual to change that, and I fear neither Ashley or Keegan have either the capability or inclination to do that.

Of course I wouldn't really like to see Newcastle go down, but it might actually teach people a lesson. I am not a Geordie either so maybe I am the same. As you say having passion for the club isn't a bad thing, but this needs chanelling in the right way. Somebody has to be very strong, and keep calm when things get tough.

ok then who is the right man for the job? every manager who takes charge it is the same "ha aint the man for the job" youi forgetting this team he has is Big Sams team. he needs the summer to sign some players to create his own team. to sack keegan would be a joke and you would deserve to go down. you have to stop this manger merry go round and give someone a chance. its going to take years to get you back to the top not 1 season.

About time the fans shut up and realised it

Oh god no, I wouldn't advocate sacking Keegan now. I'm not a fan of his appointment but whats done is done. For any hope of stability he has to be given at least one whole season. I think me and Darren were just commenting on how we thought sacking Big Sam and appointing Keegan was a mistake in the first place.

Mags next five matches are against:

Blackburn
Liverpool
Birmingham
Fulham
and Spurs.

If we can get results against Birmingham and Fulham then I think we'll be fine and Keegan can concentrate building his team over the summer. If we dont pick up those points then I'll be holding my breath til the end of the season.

What I meant was that Kevin Keegan shouldn't have been given the job in the first place, we shouldn't have got rid of Big Sam so early. Obviously to get rid of Kevin Keegan now would be totally mad.

I think Newcastle were better off when Roeder was there and he had to contend with more than half the squad out on injuries!!!

As for this current squad its still Sams and Keegan can only do what he can now and wait it out to summer

I hope and pray for a good result soon, purely selfish reasons. Just want the constant ribbing to stop at work. Man U fans still harping on...

Absolutely dreading the Liverpool game coming up in a couple of weeks. A bad result in that one and I'll be deflecting crap for weeks!

Just be happy to see a good performance and a close score in the next couple of games, and then hopefully a couple of victories against Birmingham and Fulham.

PLeeeeaaaasssseeeee!!!!!!!!!_smile:
