Tuesday 27th July 2010 16:28 #1 Estonian winger to boro
MIDDLESBROUGH have opened talks with Estonian winger Tarmo Kink but Dundee United's Craig Conway remains Gordon Strachan's leading target on the flanks.
Kink has been given permission to speak to Boro officials, even though his Hungarian employers Gyori ETO are yet to agree a deal that would enable the 24-year-old to move to Teesside.
Kink, who has made 42 appearances as a left-winger for the Estonian national side, is keen to join Boro permanently, but his future could be determined by the outcome of the club's ongoing discussions with Dundee United over Conway.
Those talks have stalled over a failure to agree a fee for the 25-year-old, who has made more than 120 appearances since joining the Tangerines from Ayr United in 2006.
Dundee United officials are refusing to lower their £1.2m valuation of Conway, even though Boro have steadfastly refused to raise their original bid of around £750,000.
Further talks are planned for this week, and Strachan remains hopeful of reaching a compromise agreement that will enable Conway to join his squad ahead of the opening game of the Championship season on August 7.
However, if it looks as though an agreement will be impossible to strike, the Boro boss will instruct chief executive Keith Lamb to step up negotiations with Gyori regarding Kink.

Wednesday 28th July 2010 12:08 #3 GORDON Strachan today expressed his delight at completing his sixth summer signing with the capture of Tarmo Kink.
The Estonian left-winger put pen to paper on a three-year deal with Boro late yesterday.
Chief executive Keith Lamb flew out to Budapest to push through the transfer and was successful in his quest.
The fee has been officially described as “undisclosed”, though it’s reasonable to assume that Boro will pay Hungarian club Gyori ETO somewhere in the region of £500,000 to £750,000 for the services of the 24-year-old.
Speaking exclusively to the Gazette at Boro’s base near Berlin, Strachan said: “I’m very pleased that the deal has gone through.
“He’s a lad we’ve watched on quite a few occasions and we liked what we saw.
“He’s a good ball player and I think he will be a good acquisition for the squad.
“We will have to give him time to settle in and he will link up with us next week.
“He’s been suffering a virus, which has knocked him back a bit but he should be all right to get stuck into full training next week.”
for that type of money
i think its worth a risk on the lad
