ARSENAL
Wanted: If you believe Arsene Wenger then no-one, apparently. Skipper Thierry Henry however has different ideas and would be happy to see some new faces coming in. Shaun Wright-Phillips (Chelsea) and Franck Ribery (Marseille) would please the French striker, but Arsenal fans would probably like to see a defender like Gökhan Zan (Besiktas) come in, rather than more attacking flair.


Needed: Curtis Davies (WBA) has impressed Wenger, but as a young Englishman his price has risen to at least £10million. Glen Johnson (Chelsea) has also been touted in the defensive department, but would the Blues sell him? Craig Gordon (Hearts) or Yohann Pele (Le Mans) could be the successors to Jens Lehmann in goal, while a defender/left back in the shape of Gael Givet (Monaco) or Eric Abidal (Lyon) would be a useful addition to the squad.

ASTON VILLA
Wanted: With Randy Lerner's cheque-book at the ready, Martin O'Neill will be champing at the bit for the window to open in January. Winger Lee Cook (QPR) has already attracted the manager's interest and goalkeeping cover is also high on the list.

Needed: A striker like Miroslav Klose (Werder Bremen) or Robbie Keane (Tottenham) would give an added goal threat, alongside former loanee James Milner (Newcastle). With a propensity for signing Celtic players however, O'Neill could make midfielder Stephen Pearson or defender Bobo Balde the next players to move south.

BLACKBURN
Wanted: Mark Hughes has already made it known he would be interested in signing David Beckham if his Real Madrid contract expires, but realistically he'll have to set his sights a little lower. Cyprus striker Yiannakis Okkas (Olympiakos) is definitely on the list, as well as Czech midfielder Tomas Sivok (Sparta Prague) though Hughes is keeping his cards close to his chest.

Needed: Stephen Warnock (Liverpool) would be a good buy to replace the unhappy Lucas Neill, possibly in a swap deal. Another full-back linked with Rovers is the tough tackling Phil Bardsley (Man Utd), while Danny Mills (Man City) may also come in. Someone like Jason Koumas (WBA) could certainly improve things in the creative department.

BOLTON
Wanted: Always on the look-out for a bargain, Big Sam will be pleased that his threadbare squad has done so well already this season. Anyone coming in January will most likely be cover for injuries. Slovenian defender Branko Ilic (Domzale) has caught the eye, as has Japan's Brazilian midfielder Alex (Urawa Reds), but Bolton are most likely to react to any transfer situations, especially if it involves a free transfer.

Needed: Bolton could certainly do with some squad players to bolster their ranks as fatigue sets in after January. A powerful goal-scorer in the mould of James Beattie (Everton) wouldn't go amiss, nor would another tough-tackling midfielder in Aldo Duscher (Deportivo), but a more likely arrival is French international Vikash Dhorasoo, who is currently unattached after falling out with former club PSG.

CHARLTON
Wanted: A new manager for starters. Iain Dowie's departure shocked most people, but new man Les Reed now has the responsibility of using the transfer window to haul the Addicks out of the relegation zone. Costa Rican winger Christian Bolanos (Deportivo Saprissa) is still wanted, despite encountering work permit problems and Reed has already confirmed his intention to boost the squad though money will be an issue.

Needed: Where to start? Charlton need more defensive cover, and on the cheap. China captain and playmaker Zheng Zhi (Shandong Luneng) won't be the answer, but may still join. Matthew Killgallon (Leeds) or Stijn Stijnen (Club Brugge) are defensive options, although they could be faced with a fight to keep existing players like Darren Bent before they can buy new ones.

CHELSEA
Wanted: When money is no object, who do you buy? Having spent over £50million in the summer, Jose Mourinho should be pretty happy with his squad. Still, David Villa (Valencia), Fernando Torres (Atletico Madrid) and Gianluigi Buffon (Juventus) are all part of the speculation that sells papers, but realistically Jose will go for a right-back.

Needed: Adding an attacking right-back like Micah Ricards (Man City) would be about the only thing that could make the Chelsea side any stronger. £15million would probably be enough to tempt Stuart Pearce, although the warning is already there in the form of Shaun Wright-Phillips. Daniel Alves (Sevilla) and Miguel (Valencia) could also fill the defensive gap, and being Chelsea, it won't be filled for peanuts

EVERTON
Wanted: Top of the priority list for the Toffees is a new right-back, although manager David Moyes has expressed his desire to bring in loan-players rather than buying outright. Short of numbers even before their recent injury worries, the club will be looking to fill a few gaps in the squad. Tomas Sivok (Sparta Prague) and Lars Jacobsen (FC Copenhagen) are of interest, and cheap as well.

Needed: Could do with a young central defender like Curtis Davies (WBA) alongside the impressive Joleon Lescott, or a full back like Kevin McNaughton (Cardiff), but Moyes is more likely to bring in another striker. David Nugent (Preston) or David Healy (Leeds) would jump at the chance to play in the Premiership and give AJ a run for his money. They'll be glad of some quick healing midfielders too.

FULHAM
Wanted: First on the list for Chris Coleman is to hold on to his captain, Luis Boa Morte. After that, he has made it clear that there are a few players he'd be interested in. American midfielder Clint Dempsey (New England Revolution) has apparently caught the manager's eye, and Coleman will also be keen to add a defender or two to the squad as well.

Needed: QPR have already turned down an offer for teenage striker Ray Jones, so ex-Cottager Steve Marlet (Lorient), in what would be a highly controversial return, could do a job in attack, but it's defensively that Fulham are really lacking. Combative midfielder Jason Culina (PSV) is an option, as well as a return for Sean Davis (Portsmouth), but what Coleman really needs is for Jimmy Bullard to come back from injury.

LIVERPOOL
Wanted: Rafa Benitez is still keen to bring in a winger, Simao (Benfica) or Quaresma (FC Porto) would seem to fit the bill in this department, while Matthew Upson (Birmingham) could follow Jermaine Pennant up from the Midlands, as the Reds are in the market for a new centre-back. With money to spend, Rafa could also plum for goalkeeper Marco Amelia (Livorno) or young midfielder Giles Barnes (Derby), as he seeks to build a squad capable to challenging for the title.

Needed: A full-back seems to be the priority with Lucas Neill (Blackburn) almost certainly going to sign for Liverpool in January, and young left-back Emiliano Insua (Boca Juniors) already on his way. Francisco Pavon (Real Madrid) has been attracting interest and Sevilla's Daniel Alves was subject to a Reds bid in the summer, and could be courted again.

MAN CITY
Wanted: What would make the year for all City fans would be the return of Shaun Wright-Phillips (Chelsea). Even on loan the vertically challenged winger would improve City's attacking threat. After their error-strewn derby performance a centre-back or two would strengthen the side, although they'll face a fight to keep Micah Richards and Sylvain Distin as the vultures circle.

Needed: A goal-scorer for sure. Andwele Slory (Excelsior), Ivan Klasnic (Werder Bremen) or free-scoring Freddy Eastwood (Southend) to replace the ineffectual and theatrical Bernardo Corradi. Creativity is missing from the midfield and City have been linked with Lee Cook (QPR), but need someone like Yildiray Basturk (Hertha Berlin). Chairman John Wardle is considering a takeover bid, but it's very unlikely anything will happen before or during January.

MAN UTD
Wanted: A striker on loan, and they have him. Henrik Larsson, albeit initially for only ten weeks. A young left winger to replace Ryan Giggs could come in, maybe Antonio Puerta (Sevilla). Sir Alex Ferguson will be keeping a close eye on England pair Jermain Defoe (Tottenham) and Darren Bent (Charlton), but is unlikely to splash much cash in January.

Needed: With Owen Hargreaves (Bayern Munich) itching to get away from Germany, January could be the time for a bid for the talented midfielder. His addition would certainly improve the central midfield area, although if Bayern don't bite, Nigel Reo-Coker (West Ham) would be cheaper. Fernando Torres (Atletico Madrid) is also a target, but more likely in the summer.

MIDDLESBROUGH
Wanted: Replacements for out-of-favour midfielders Gaizka Mendieta and Fabio Rochemback, who will probably look for a move once the window opens. Southgate is a known admirer of Steven Sidwell (Reading) who is yet to pledge his future to the high-flying Royals. David Nugent (Preston) would provide an added threat for Boro and has also been linked.

Needed: A quick skilful striker to balance out Viduka and Yakubu, Healy (Leeds) or Nugent (Preston) would be ideal. Southgate has already said he won't be unhappy if he still has the same squad in February, but inconsistent Boro need a shake-up. Austrian Christoph Leitgeb (SK Sturm Graz) could also bolster their midfield options.

NEWCASTLE
Wanted: Someone. Anyone. To help with the injury crisis. Zat Knight (Fulham) and Lucas Neill (Blackburn) may spell the end for Titus Bramble's spell on Tyneside and Albert Luque won't be far behind him as the January door closes, assuming they can find a buyer. A left-back, a central defender and a striker would seem likely arrivals.

Needed: Quite simply, some defenders. Wayne Bridge (Chelsea), Distin (Man City), Upson (Birmingham) or Gerald Cid (Bordeaux) would be good, but expect more strikers to arrive. Darren Bent (Charlton) may feature high on the pacy striker list, but the budget may not stretch after the Martins' arrival. Klaas-Jan Huntelaar (Ajax) has been linked, as has Russian striker Alexander Kerzhakov (Zenit St Petersburg). Roeder may try and tempt Peter Crouch (Liverpool) to re-unite with Owen.

PORTSMOUTH
Wanted: Backed by Sacha Gaydamak, Harry Redknapp will have money to spend in January. Expect a bid for Birmingham defender Matthew Upson and Preston's David Nugent, but his priority is a winger. Cue Shaun Wright-Phillips (Chelsea). More likely, Senegalese Khalilou Fadiga (Al Wakra) who would have to prove his fitness after a scare with his heart. A striker and a full-back seem to be top of the list.

Needed: Zoltan Gera (WBA) has already proved his credentials in the Premiership and would be great buy, while Redknapp may resume his interest in Sulley Ali Muntari (Udinese), who would cost at least £10million after impressing with Ghana during the World Cup. South Korean star Lee Chun-Soo (Ulsan), Freddy Eastwood (Southend) and David Nugent (Preston) are all possible striking options.

READING
Wanted: With Dave Kitson out for a while yet, Coppell has said he's after a striker in the January window. American Eddie Johnson (Kansas City Wizards) and Egyptian international, Amir Azmy (PAOK Salonika) have been linked with moves, as the Royals look to boost their striking options.

Needed: Could do with some more power at the back, and Matthew Upson (Birmingham) would relish joining his ex-Arsenal team-mates at the Madejski. Another Birmingham player, David Dunn, has also been linked. John Mensah (Rennes) and Emerse Fae (Nantes) could also come in, although the former had a bid turned down in excess of £5million in the summer.

SHEFFIELD UNITED
Wanted: The Blades have raised £5million to spend on new players, but Neil Warnock has already said he won't be going crazy. David Healy (Leeds) could take up a sizeable chunk of that budget, while the scouting staff have been flying all over Europe to check out their options.

Needed: Malta international Michael Mifsud (Lillestrom) could make his way to Sheffield, while Michael Ball (PSV) may end his Dutch nightmare with a return to England. Egypt internationals Amr Zaki and Ibrahim Said (Zamalek FC) have been subject to interest, and could improve the Blades' squad depth, but Warnock will be wary of spending too much of his hard-earned money.

TOTTENHAM
Wanted: Goalkeeper Ben Alnwick (Sunderland) is already on his way, with Spurs showing their talent for signing more young English players. Hanging on to Jermain Defore and Robbie Keane will fill most of Jol's time, but he has already shown an interest in Sylvain Distin (Man City) and Yildiray Basturk (Hertha Berlin) as well.

Needed: Curtis Davies (WBA) would provide stiff competition for King and Dawson, and he's English as well. Of the same ilk, Giles Barnes (Derby) will be attracting the Tottenham scouts, but after spending so much in the summer, it is unlikely there will be many coming in, and if they do, Spurs will have to offload players first.

WATFORD
Wanted: Keeping hold of the talented Ashley Young is important, and getting Marlon King back from injury is vital. A goalscorer if they can afford him, but James Beattie (Everton) and David Healy (Leeds) may prove too costly.

Needed: Someone to start scoring and stop the rot. Alan Smith (Man Utd) has attracted the eye of Aidy Boothroyd. Ade Akinbiye (Sheff Utd) could do a job, they may plum for experience in the form of out of favour Ray Parlour (Boro) who wouldn't mind coming back to London, but strikers are the priority for the goal-shy Hornets.

WEST HAM
Wanted: With Icelandic backing, the transfer market is wide open for the Hammers. Alan Curbishley will have money to spend and will want to make his own mark in January. The have a new manager; a winger, and some defenders will be close behind.

Needed: Shaun Wright-Phillips (Chelsea) would be a great buy, David Beckham (Real Madrid) has been touted, along with Clint Dempsey (NewEngland). With a blank cheque-book, the Hammers could recruit a new defender, but their current players have to start performing first; and the future of the two Argentineans, Tevez and Mascherano, as well as skipper Reo-Coker, has to be decided. Could be more out than in.

WIGAN
Wanted: Manager Paul Jewell is 'never satisfied' with what he has, and Japanese international Alex (Urawa Reds) could be the first to arrive at the JJB. If Wigan start to slip, Jewell will bring in more players, but at the moment he is no rush. Svetoslav Todorov (Portsmouth) certainly won't be making his loan permanent after failing to impress, but Nathan Ellington (WBA) could come back.

Needed: A tough tackling midfielder in Seydou Keita (Lens) might be a useful addition for the Latics. Also someone like Matthew Kilgallon (Leeds) or Matthew Upson (Birmingham) could give the defence the added boost that it needs to see the squad through to the summer, but more likely they'll get Swedish defender Andreas Granqvist (Helsingborgs).
