Swedish city of Borås has recently lost the chance to host matches for Euro 2009 U-21 championship. This came about from something you may not expect. It was not due to not having the stadium built, not because of infrastructure or safety concerns. Not for anything football related. In fact they UEFA took drop Borås as venue to make a corporate sponsor happy. Yes, UEFA did this to keep McDonalds happy!!

The controversy revolves around Swedish fast food restaurant MAX, who’ve been arguing with UEFA about whether they should close their doors for the U-21 Euros to make way for official sponsor McDonald’s. Max came up with possible compromise of closing 3hrs before kickoff and reopening 1hr after the end of matches. This, however, was not good enough for fatty mcfatty.
