I've been to New York twice. Make sure you go up the Empire State. Try to have a look around Madison Square Gardens too.
It's got so much history there. There's plaques on the walls in the corridors of all the former World Heavyweight Champions plus loads of events that have taken place there.
You must go in the Donald Trump Tower. It's on 5th Avenue, near Central Park. It's amazing. Everthing is marble and gold and there's shops and restaurants on each floor. The restaurants have areas that are outside the building, hundreds of feet up.
Go to Macy's, the biggest store in the world. You'll find some bargains there. Go to Radio City. Go to Times Square and visit one of the coffee shops called Shabeero's. They are amazing. You can eat however much you like for one fixed price. Shabeero restaurants are all over New York.
Go to The New Yorker Hotel if you can. It's on 8th Avenue, 34th Street. I went there a few times. I found an amazing little bar tucked away over to the right as you walk in. It's open to the public so you got no worry's about getting in. If you manage to get in there, you'll find out why it's amazing.
Have a trip along the Hudson River on the Statten Island Ferry and get over to the Statue of Liberty if you can.
One of the best memories I have of New York is when it's a sunny morning. Walk along one of the streets and when you get to a crossroads, look down one of the the Avenues. The pink sunlight that hits the skyscrapers is amazing. It's almost like you're looking at the Grand Canyon, fabulous sight.
Also when you explore the streets, that's the roads that join the Avenues together, you'll find some little Irish bars that are woth visiting.
Good Luck.
