Nugent called up!

Quote:
Preston striker David Nugent has been called up to replace injured Charlton forward Darren Bent for the forthcoming Euro 2008 qualifiers.
more here: BBC SPORT | Football | Internationals | McClaren calls up striker Nugent

This seem like a great chance for the striker, but I have the premonition that he will be on the bench most if not all of the game

It will be Rooney and Crouch or Johnson up front. he might get a late chance if he's lucky.

He's proven he can do it at U21 level and at the Championship. This will be a great oppurtunity for him

Well done to him for being a player out of the Premiership and being called up, from what Ive seen hes a fantastic player and deserves a place in the squad, as Ronaldo said, tis will be an excellent time for him to show his ability.

So glad he's been given a go, he deserves it. Haven't seen that much of him but he seems to be a positive player who loves playing and he definitely has talent.

Not wanting to sound arrogant but if we get a two goal cushion mid way through the second half I'd be surprised if McClaren doesn't withdraw either Crouch or Rooney given how important they are to their clubs.

Crouch is out due to surgery, fixing his nose.

Great.... now I'm hungry for some chicken nuggets! yes:

Owen is (and may perpetually be) out, Darren Bent has a knee injury, Gary Neville with ankle injury, and Woodgate may be ruled out also due to a knee problem.

here is the squad so far:

Why the hell hasn't Michael Dawson been called up? He has been amazing for the last 2 years, no matter whoever he is partenering in that central defence.

He actually scored for England on debut man!
that is some amazing talent right there, I mean one day he's palying at U-21, and suddenly he finds himself playing AND scoring beside the likes of Gerrard.

he was the only one that showed abit of passion in the Andorra game, he was hungry from the second he came on. I'd love to see more of him for England but now Crouch and Bent are back it looks doubtful

I totally agree. He reminded me of Ronaldinho in that he always had a smile on his face, even if something went wrong he just laughed it off.
