I have got to agree with that, and you would certainly think that Rangers can only progress now from here.
Since the start of this millenium. Rangers have been in dire straits. Having to constantly sell, their best player's. Not being able to splash out on real quality signing's. Basically been financially fucked. Whilst celtic in that time have, had a big advantage financially, yet somehow have been unable to capitalise on it. Title count so far- Rangers 6- Celtic -5.
I am just wondering if celtic have spurned their best opportunity,to really race ahead of Rangers, and blew it?
Rangers now are debt free, And have money to spend.
Any thought's?
Well any sensible thought's.

proper management and motivation had a lot to do with it. imo Celtic havent had a decent manager since MON, and it shows.
Rangers on the other hand have had the brilliance of Sir Walter, and the motivation of the legend that is Ally McCoist to spur them on and get them playing to their full potential.
i also think Murray Park has a lot to do with it, who wouldnt want to train and work in facilities that brilliant?

i think that says as much about the quality of the Scottish league than anything. Look how shit Strachan was for Boro.
contrast that with MON's relative success at Villa, its clear who the better manager is.
giving kind of an outsider's opinion here, i like Rangers but i dont follow Scottish football religiously.
what are you opinons?

MON, spent a lot more at celtic, than wee strapon did. MON, spent a massive amount more at villa, than strapon did at boro.
And they both spent silly amount's more than Sir Walter.
Also McLeish has had more success at Blues, than MON at Villa, check the trophy count.

Seriously tho. I reckon ,ceptic over the last few years, have had the chance to get out of sight of Rangers, and have blew it big time. Could it haunt them now, that Rangers are debt free,No longer a selling club, and in a position to bring in a bit more quality?. As in the Rangers 9 in a row era, they got out of sight of celtic, thru financial superiority, Celtic have had 10 years of the same opportunity, but not took advantage. All they have done is take the piss out of Rangers finances, whilst Rangers have still picked up more honour's.

sorry, do you mean plastic Scots in America, or plastic Paddys in Scotland (i took the last of the Nyquil i used when i was sick and things are starting to get fuzzy)
WE ARE THE ROSE CITY, YOU CANT STOP US!

ah, gotcha.
i have nothing against the Irish, in fact i have a few Irish friends. but i still cant see why anybody would pretend to be something they arent. i mean, im half English but you dont see me walking around singing "God Save the Queen" or draping myself with St. George's cross. im an American, i respect and honor my heritage, but this is my country, and i wont show allegiance to another (i support England during the Euro though, and the WC as long as they arent playing the States, but its only natural with my background and i was born with dual citizenship).
arent a lot of these plastics in Scotland 3rd, 4th, 5th etc... generation Scots too? most of the plastic paddys in America call themselves "Irish" because "my great-great-great grandpa was Irish".

Knicked from elsewhere, But a valid point, and good read.
At this point in time, we find ourselves in a position not dissimilar to where we were in 1991, with Sir David Murray still very much in the infancy of his 21 year tenure as chairman, Walter Smith OBE taking his first steps as a manager following the departure of Graeme Souness to Liverpool, money in the bank and the league trophy in the cabinet for the third year in a row. It was to be the third of nine as we are all aware, and few could have imagined then what the next 6 years would entail.
Combine this with the situation that Celtic find themselves in, having overspent vastly in an unsuccessful attempt to overcome a team who were unable to spend with any freedom for three years. They now find themselves £9m in debt with the prospect of no champions league football yet again.
In this period, we have seen off Gordon Strachan and Tony Mowbray, if we win the league next year I suspect we will see off Neil Lennon despite what he and the Celtic board have said in recent weeks.
Messer’s Whyte and McCoist now find themselves in a position, similar to that of their predecessors where they have the opportunity to begin to put real distance between us and the rest of the league for the foreseeable future.
