I havnt read a book in a while really, i only read sport related stuff and have not long ordered the new Paul Merson book, although i have prolly wasted my time as all he ever says in his books is ''When i was at Arsenal''
Warning: "Geek" alert.
Currently indulging myself in 'Angels and Demons' by Dan Brown where the Illuminati attempt to destroy the Vatican and ultimately Catholicism.
Very interesting read, haven't put it down this weekend!

I've read "Angels and Demons" and "The Divinci Code". Nice read, not taxing at all. Did you enjoy it?
I'm on a bit of an Irish fest at the moment. Just read "Star of the Sea" by Joseph O'Connor and "Angela's Ashes". I enjoyed both and its prompted me to read up a bit on Irish history. Very interesting. Been studying the language a bit too, mainly looking for similarities to my mother tongue...there aren't many.
The tree of seasons by steven gatley

Just finished Moving Pictures by Terry Pratchett (funniest writer in the history of the universe), not sure what I'm going to move onto now. Probably going to finish Nicholas Nickleby by Charles Dickens which I stopped reading about 5/6ths of the way through for no apparent reason...
JUSTICE FOR BETSY, THE VINTAGE CONDOM MOULD!

no, most Americans get British humor, they just dont find it all that funny (i am NOT one of those, i love British humor).
anyway, im reading a very interesting book about lost versions of Asian and African Christianity and its fascinating, i had no idea how big the faith actually was about 1000 years ago and how widespread it became.
WE ARE THE ROSE CITY, YOU CANT STOP US!

i highly recommend it man, its called The Lost History of Christianity: The thousand year golden-age of the Church in the Middle East, Africa, and Asia-and how it Died by Philip Jenkins, got his degrees at Cambridge and was Professor of Religious Studies at Penn State University (one of the biggest and most prestigious State unis in the country).
he de-bunks a lot of myth and misconception and presents the information in a very blunt manner. it is a very very good read, and very well researched.
honestly, i had no idea that the area and cultures between Iran and China were so full and vibrant, and most suprisingly, overwhelmingly Christian for about 1400 years.
WE ARE THE ROSE CITY, YOU CANT STOP US!

an example is how when most people hear "Eastern Christianity" they think of the Greek/Russian etc... Orthodox Church. when really in history this was one of the Western Churches (or churches of the Roman Empire). if you look at a map of Christianity at like year 800, it reaches as far as churches in China, India, Sri Lanka etc...the Nestorian Church was actually bigger and more widespread than both the Roman and Greek churches combined, the Syrian Jacobites, Coptics, and North Africans also had vibrant Christian communities that were as far reaching as the Western Churches (Egypt still does, and Ethiopia is overwhelmingly Christian to this day and has practiced its own Christian tradition for almost 2000 years).
the crazy thing is, people now only think of Europe and parts of the Middle East when they think of Christianity, because thats what survived. due to many different reasons explained in the book, these massive Christian communities across the world simply vanished, and now arent talked about except by people who study History. its a really good read as ive said.

I've read the whole trilogy of five (), but I was disappointed by the end. Basically, the first book is amazing and absolutely hilarious and brilliant and a million and a half other superlatives and I've read it through about twenty times and never get sick of it and it always makes me laugh out loud each time, the second one (The Restaurant at the End of the Universe) was great, the third one was just good, and interesting, and the fourth and fifth have the potential to be interesting, but the problem with them is that interesting storylines start to develop and either strangely just don't go anywhere at all or are prematurely killed off, so it's just random plotlines going everywhere and ending before they really have a chance to get going. But the first 2 books were awesome anyway.
Aaaand now reading Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them by Senator Al Franken.![]()
JUSTICE FOR BETSY, THE VINTAGE CONDOM MOULD!
All but finished this. Thought I'd check out the film and was deeply disappointed how they changed the plot, missed out important characters and barely explained anything.
Thinking of going on to Abagnale's 'Catch me If You Can' - the autobiography of a guy who conned banks all around the world for years before being caught, who is now used by US Banks to catch fraudsters and enhance their security.
