    CONCACAF Gold Cup

well, i know you lot over there look down your noses at our football but it easily deserves a thread.

USA just beat Jamaica 2-0 (could have been 4 or 5-0 if it wasnt for Jamaica's fantastic keeper, Donovan Ricketts). and advances to the semi finals. Mexico had a scare against Guatemala going down 1-0 early in the first half but came out early in the second and got the equalizer, followed by an absolutely sublime finish by ChicachicanoDorritosCerveza (or whatever Hernandez likes to call himself) for the winner so they advance to play Honduras.

waiting for Panama v. El Salvador to finish up to see who we play. Panama actually managed to beat us in the group (first time USA has ever lost a Gold Cup group stage match) so it should be interesting. we have more than enough quality to see us through to the final though, and i expect it'll be the Mexicans we face.

USA in the final, beat Panama 1-0 (Dempsey)

Aston Villa should sign Dempsey, he just keeps getting better and better and is proven both in the prem and at international level. id even go as far as to say he's the United States' best player these days. hes just entering his prime, he's very versatile and can play on the wing, in the hole, or up top, and when he plays as a forward he bangs them in regularly. just moved up to 5th all time USA goal scorer with tonights goal. would love to see him replace Heskey (or whoever you wanna say hes replacing, we dont have his like in our side).

anyway, Mexico are stuck in a 0-0 deadlock with Honduras with about 5 minutes to play for the other place in the final, i'll laugh my ass off if the Mexicans lose, especially after the way they demolished everyone in their group.

edit: typical Mexico, won 2-0 in extra time.

well ladies and germs its the match you've all been waiting for, USA v. Mexico in another major cup final (dont even start)...its in Pasadena, California at the Rose Bowl...im very tempted to go but i dont really wanna get stabbed by some drunk Mexican or have a flaming car rolled on me after we beat them 3-1

YANK ARMY!! we shall not be defeated on home soil, ask the King George

New online game Soccer Knockout allows you to wade-in on the, erm, friendly rivalry between Mexico and the USA as the two nations prepare to slog it out at the Gold Cup. CONCACAF’s big two meet in the final tomorrow evening, but in case any Mexican fans find themselves with a little excess aggression between now and then this punch-up game has been developed. You take on the role of Manchester United and Mexico star Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez. Your mission is to do as much damage to Landon Donovan’s face as possible. The battle pits arguably the weediest players of either team against each other. If push came to shove, we would probably have to back Donovan if this was a real fight.

Why can't this little bastard do this for us?

My old man said to me "be an Ars*nal fan" I said "fuck off, bollocks, you're a cunt" we took the North Bank in half a minute, we took the Shelf with the Chelsea in it, we hammered the hammers with carving knives and spanners, we taught the Millwall how to fight so I'll never be a gunner, every cunt is a runner, that's what I told my old man.

i bet he could if Spurs pulled their heads out of their asses and actually played him and stopped loaning him out. there IS a player there, and a potentially world class one, and i wouldnt mind him signing for Villa actually.

people will say "yeah but Barca wouldnt have let him go" and id say "well they let Fabregas go, how'd that turn out?"

I will agree with you that United States didn't play their best players, but that was because those players just came back from finishing in 2nd place at the Confederations Cup. Mexico may have beat a weaker U.S. team 5-0, but a win is still a win. I also agree that Mexico should and will win.
