Rangers bid for Cuellar and Allen McGregor stays at Celtic

Rangers have confirmed they have made a bid to bring Aston Villa defender Carlos Cuellar back to Ibrox.
    From http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/13872894.stm

I think he's doing rubbish at Villa as he has hardly played a game with them since he was bought in 2008 and he could do better back at Ibrox, What do members think?

LOL, he deleted his previous thread i replied to, he said

''I think Cuellar has been doing well at Villa, but will probably do better at Rangers, what do members think?''

I said, that sums up just how much football you actually watch if you think Cuellar has been doing well at Villa, he never hit the ground running and has failed to be a regular at Villa. Then he changed it to the above, i did LOL..

yeah, its not as if Cuellar wasnt a Rangers legend (i think thats fair, but perhaps a bit of a stretch?) before we signed him, they didnt call him King Carlos for nothing, he was immense for them.

and McGregor has been a Rangers man his whole career and came through their academy if i recall correctly (help me out with this one SA).

if Cuellar left id be disappointed as i think hes quite a good (if not spectacular) defender, and he was always pretty good for us imo, just hardly ever got to play his proper position...he just aint a right back. i hope McLeish can convince him to stay and fight for his place, one less box we gotta tick.

i also hope we sign McGregor as i rate him and have done for a while now.

SA, how much you think it would take for the Rangers board to sell? they've got a bit of cash now dont they?

Think youre right about Cuellar at villa, never played in his best position, McGregor has just signed an extension to his contract, So wont be going anywhere, Unless a silly amount is offered.

hmm, so we'd have to pay over the odds for McGregor and certrainly would have to pay over the odds for Foster (if Blues would even consider the bid that is)...i struggle to think of a good, young-ish keeper that id like us to sign...

fuck it, anybody but Rob Green.

The yooung lad at Palace is class, Huddersield have a great young keeper too. I'd take either one, And let Foster go, if given the choice.

just seen that Sunderland signed Westwood on a free, he probably would have been worth a punt even if he played for Coventry...

if we could get Ochoa to quit taking performance enhancing substances long enough id love to bring him over to Villa, hes always very good whenever i see him play for Mexico, won just about all there is to win at Club America, and he's a biggish name (at least this side of the pond anyway).

however you slice it, a new keeper must be our number 1 priority.

Rangers owner Criag Whyte has revealed that the club were not willing to listen to offers for their first choice keeper from Villa or any other club. The Scotland international has long been touted as a target for Villa and was thought to have been rated highly by the previous management, with rumours suggesting that McLeish would push through with their liking of the stopper in order to replace veteran Brad Friedel after the new boss claimed a new number 1 was the main priority in the transfer window.

hmm, thats disappointing. though that could really mean "you can have him, but you're gonna have to pay more than you want to unless he throws a hissy fit and demands a transfer".
