    Next England Manager

Who do you want to be the next England manager. I would like an English manager, Sven was shit no personality at all and didn't have control of the players, Fabio Capello is another one who just picks the same players as Sven so did and McLaren. We just don't seem to get managers that can motivate the players. I know you shouldn't need motivating as playing for your Country is motivation in itself!! I think Redknapp would be a good one, he takes no shit from players and should be able to motivate them, probably get a few back handers from the FA as well so he'll be up for some dodgy shit .

Sven was the best we've had for a while. He got results and was respected by the players (or so Neville says in his book). Maybe he was a bit unlucky with regards to injuries to key players at tournaments (Beckham in 2002, Rooney in 2004, Rooney and Owen in 2006) though I agree he wasn't flexible enough and the teams more or less picked themselves every game.

Redknapp would be good. Has the knowledge and presence, is English, plays good football and might fancy this as a final large paycheck.

better question, who actually would want that poison chalice?

the English people wont be satisfied unless they win every tournament every time...they could go to the Euro finals, lose to an own goal off of John Terry's ass, and they'd still find a way to lynch the manager for not playing the more slender thighed Gary Cahill!

problem is, every Englishman thinks he knows best, and there is Englands problem.

Not at all, we just want to see good football rather than the boring shite we've been used to for so many years. Playing shite teams doesn't help, all our friendlies are against tiny clubs and no one cares, even the players by the looks of things. But when we do eventually get into a competition and the good teams come along, were not up to their standard. But if we tried to play some good football and lost then it wouldn't be so bad.

i mostly agree with you. i'll just say that i dont agree with the way youth football in your country is. young kids are expected to play on a full sized pitch and while its great for athleticism, it does little to develop footballing skills. if you want to see what im talking about, compare England to Spain.

imo theres no reason why England shouldnt be an elite team again. the only thing stopping England are the English themselves.

i get it though, its pride. you invented the game, you naturally think your way is the correct one. its kinda like how the United States has been beaten in the last 2 World Baseball Classics by the Japanese and Dominicans and Koreans etc... we dont/wont adapt.

I've believed for a few years now that our problem is having players who are not only good enough at international level but have the right amount of passion and realise what it means to represent their country. As far as I'm concerned, I'll take any manager who matches that requirement and only picks the players who meet it also. However, I will support whoever gets it and whoever walks out in the white shirt.

i think for a lot of English players, its all about club football now. a few years ago the excuse for leaving for a bigger club was "to win trophies and get an England chance"...now most players will admit that they're moving for the money (not always), football is a job for them, and i think a lot see England duty as unpaid overtime.

Play those who will do it for the Cap and travelling expenses.

As for the manager, no way should it be 'Arry.

I'd give it to Lee Dixon, he's so good on that Sofa, him and monkey features Keown would do a great job

you'd be playing the most 1 dimensional football this side of McLeish mind...but he'd instill passion no doubt.

Sven always gets stick for his time as England manager, i really dunno why though to be honest. He was the last manager to actually get England anywhere and beat a proper top class oposition, i liked watching England under him, WC 2002 was the last time England looked like a class nation, since then its been bollocks..
