    Pires Rejects Donny

37-year-old has rejected an offer from Doncaster Rovers, claiming it isnt the move that attracts him. All i have to say on the matter is RETIRE!!! he is washed up and past his best days, if he thinks he is going to get another crack at the big time then i think he is insane...

Total opposite to the del piero thread, he nows that he is nearing the end and wants to bow out on top as a legend at the club he called home. Then you have pires who is the opposite he is clinging to the hope of playing professional football when he is simply past it.

I agree for the love of god pack it in.

Pires doesnt have the legs anymore, end of.

imo we shouldnt have touched him with a 10 foot pole, but instead we signed him, paid him a shit load, and were willing to drive him in from London every day after telling the rest of our players they needed to be living closer to Brum...

Must be very difficult to except that its over though, Del Piero is going to bow out a hero and a great player like Pires should as well but its not worked out like that for him as he moved around to much.

If he wants football so badly then surely an MLS club would take him on for a season or two.

He obviously still thinks he can do it for a top 6 club in the Premiership, silly French cunt. I lost all my respect for him when he had his short spell with us, when we released him he came out saying he deserved more respect for being Robert Pires, an invincible at Arsenal. Fuck off..

nah man, doubt it... MLS is moving on quite rapidly from the days of washed up European players being able to come over here and walk all over the league. There are some good players and teams here now, and Pires would struggle mightily to handle the pace and physicality of MLS these days. imo, he'd be a very ineffective player here, and would be a waste of money for anyone who bought him.

agree entirely. the shitty part of it is, Pires probably doesnt realize that up until the 70s, Villa were the biggest club around, and that includes his beloved Arsenal.

still, we can take comfort in the fact that we have this

I just dont have the patience for players with big ego's, yeah they might of played at the top level for most of their career but doesnt give them the right to go off on one thinking they're bigger than the next club that comes along, he needs to realise that he is over the hill and as the Courteeners say ''You're Not Nineteen Forever, Pull Yourself Together''
