Fan attacks keeper. keeper fights back. keeper gets sent off!!

Should never have been sent off, was "self defence".

Then their manager takes their team off, fair play!

The match was abandoned so they didn't come back out.

Ajax vs AZ abandoned after goalkeeper Esteban Alvarado gets sent off for kicking pitch invader - Goal.com

What does the ref think? The player will just stand their and do nothing? I know we say players shouldn't take the law into their own hands but he's just been assaulted!

The keeper did kick him twice when he was on the floor but the fan did a karate jump on him. I'd have done the same thing the keeper done. The ref is right "in the eyes of the law" but he needs common sense too!

ive hit guys on the ground before, you dont think about it in the heat of the moment. never gone over the top and stomped the shit out of anyone though mind... but one of two swift kicks is justice served imo if someone has the nerve to attack you.

In my eyes he was kicking his legs, to keep him on the floor, he could have had a knife or anything. He kicked him until he was restrained.

The ref is looking at it and seeing the keeper take the law into his own hands.

He has no option, but to send him off under the laws of the game.

    Pathetic i know...But true.

I don't think the ref had much option what with assessors etc watching his performance.

But yes, the goalkeeper should have really laid into him once he had started.

Fair play to him, if cunts like that are gonna run on to hurt you then you have to defend yourself, i remember being at Leicester away years ago and when we scored our 5th, a Leicester fan ran on to the pitch to attack Ian Walker, Walker turned round and pushed him twice and stood on him, he got cheers from both sets of fans. At the end of the day the fan could have a knife in his hand, you have to defend yourself..

I think that is the thing the ref didnt take into consideration, if that fan had stabbed the keeper it would have been terrible so of course he should defend himself so should any player.

now here is the thing had that fan attacked the ref and the ref had retaliated what would have happened? Is the match called off does forth official remove the ref? what happens in that situation.

Good, and the keepers red card has been overturned.

They are going to play the game again but behind closed doors.
