Option To Play In SPL If Relegated?

I know this would never happen, but this came up the other day on a phone in and i found it pretty interesting. Some bloke who was very random brought it up and it sent the phone lines wild, he said if his side were relegated from the English Championship, then he would rather play in the SPL than the English L1, loads of people agreed, and even some fans from English Premiership said the same...

No, I would hate it. The only decent games in the SPL have Rangers and Celtic playing in them. The standard of football from all the other 10 clubs is poor. Hence why Celtic and Rangers and stuck in the top two positions. I'd rather play in League 1, also travelling to Scotland every weekend just wouldn't work and other teams would have a unfair advantage as travelling costs would be very high for the clubs in England!

This is a very good point. And one of the reasons a North Atlantic league was shot down in flames, because for the most part a fan wouldn't be able to travel up to Scotland every other week, because it's financially unfeasible. I'm not saying it would spell an end to away days but it'd certainly drive them down.

clubs would have to take a serious hit on the prices of away tickets to attract people to do it.

The championship is quality. The football isn't at the same level but the competition is evenly matched. The attendances are ok too which makes for a good atmosphere at some grounds, not the boro's you get a better atmosphere in the fucking pub!

No chance. Any side relegated from League 1 wouldn't beat Celtic or Rangers to the SPL title. No parachute payments and they would have to accept the same shite TV money we get up here.

Basically we got used to the premier league and the decent players / attendances, since Southgate took over, its been going down hill and rapidly! We just haven't recovered. The fans even boo our players before kick off, its comical! I'm not going for a while now as i'm sick of it tbh. I go to a game purely for entertainment and if I'm not being entertained then i'm not getting my monies worth. People say your not a true supporter if you don't go to all the games. I say let them class me how they want I don' give a fook! The stupid fans, as I like to call them, go in week in week out, even though the football may be wank.

If memory serves me right, Before the injection of Sky's millions, and the start of the EPL, the best English players, were heading north of the border, butcher, steven, woods, stevens, etc, plus whoever your lot had. The EPL, is about sky money, not quality.

i don't think it would be an unfair advantage mate, it's the same all over is it not,
you get a set amount of tickets, "one end of the ground" no.

Ur making good points but think on this is champ clubs move to the SPL because they dont want to get relegated ok yes it adds more competition for the old firm but that english side plays in the SPL at the expence of a scottish team and how long would it be before the only two scottish sides in the SPL are the old firm?

there is not a load of football minded money men in scotland that
would put monet into a team they support, fuck look at Dermot
desmond, wealth 1.3 bill and still wont spend a penny on some
    good players. "bosman" and "loan"
