    Artificial Turf

With a majority of the matches in the U-20 world cup being played on Artificial turf what are your opinions on this?

Having played on the same artificial turf being used I find it very tiring to run on for long periods of time while also your feet can get caught very easily causing injury and embarrassment.

    Anyway, what do you think?

I used to play alot of my football on astro turf (artificial turf) in a league called Power League. Played it week in week out for ages, I do find that I get achy knees, my left one being weak because I pulled the ligaments in it.

Got some nasty burns in my time!

Well this stuff is improved, its got longer bits of grass and shredded tire mixed in (thats the black bits that fly up when anyone slides) but it can still give you pretty good burns if you slide a lot.

I find the ball rolls and slides farther though so to many of the through balls end up out of play

When we played in Italy we had a game on astro turf - i got burns up my leg which stung for a few days. I think they should just have these games played on normal turf like any other tournament.

I only like that artificial turf for indoor matches, not for something that is meant to be on real grass.

I've played on that turf as well and it can get to your joints eventually, but so can a hard surface field (which the ones I play in turn to in July and August)

I've played on that stuff, it looks like grass, as you said its longer and its got little bits of rubber balls on the bottom, which get everywhere!!!

I like the new type of asto turf the one with the rubber balles intermingled with the fake green grass. Very good to play on.

it still changes the game and takes some getting used to though which is why it shouldn't be used for competitions
